Who: Castiel and Ruby
What: After closing
Where: The Magic Shop
When: Late on the 26th
Rating: TBD
Status: In Progress

Ruby locked the door to the shop finally having mercifully gotten to closing time. She knew she was trying the whole redemption thing, but killing hippies playing at Witchcraft wasn't evil was it. It was perfectly fair and no one could question her. She'd been oh so tempted when one had asked about contacting ghosts and the Bloody Mary legend, and in any world that was just a stupid plan. Then there was the boy looking for Dark Books that had remembered her from that dark church she'd destroyed. Long day.

But mercifully it was over

She was enjoying it though and was definitely enjoying the chances it was giving her, here she could just do what she needed to, just work, sell people magic and veer people away from the bad. Here she didn't have to be that Ruby, the one that was still watched, still distrusted, the one she figured always would be despite what those kids had said, Their timelines weren't set in stone and nor was any of this working out for her, But she had Castiel at least, the one steady thing in her life. Maybe the only steady thing, she'd poured her heart out to him and he'd promised to be there. So when it got to much and hurt too much she could just think about him and he'd find his way to her. She thought maybe tonight would be one of those times.

She sat down flicking through the few records she'd brought into the store, yes records, if Cas was gonna learn about the Doors he was gonna do it right. So she had proper music with her and it would help. That and wine. She wasn't sure why she'd bought it, it didn't even really affect either of them but it tasted good, and she supposed it was normal. And normal was the way to go, wasn't it. She was trying to go with that, maybe it would make things easier.

Whenever he got here that was.

It might have been considered strange, but one of Castiel's favorite pastimes really was sitting on the top of the Hollywood sign and letting his senses open up. He could hear the prayers of the people of the city and he both rejoiced with their good news and grieved for their hard times. And it allowed him to keep some of his mind on the people he loved. Nothing as invasive as mind reading, but keeping himself prepared to sense if they were in trouble so he would instantly be able to get to them.

That and preparing for the night's radio show. Even with the disappearance of the elder Virgil, Castiel still kept up the show, celebrating the successes of Angel Investigations and Slayers everywhere. His small part against Twilight.

When he realized that Ruby was finished with work, he smiled slightly before he appeared in the shop with the faint flutter of wings, standing behind her and easing his arms around her waist as he leaned forward and kissed her shoulder.

"Long day?"

"Sound so domesticated don't I" she said amused as he appeared behind her, she wasn't suprised anymore when he did that, weridly she had gotten used to it over time.

"But to answer, yes. It kinda has been" She supposed she would have to get used to that. And she was, domesticated demon or not. She tilted her head back letting her lips meet his just for a moment. She found that whenever she was unsure about her place here she turned to him, It was why she hadn't just run and hid in some hick town far away once she'd realised what she'd done.

"Been broody on the sign again?" she asked, "Is that what you do when I'm at work?

"I quite like you domesticated," Castiel smirked as he turned her around so he could hug her properly, kissing her lightly as he did so. And he really did like her this way, with something good and real in her life, something that she could feel proud over. It gave him hope, for her and for them.

"I was not brooding," he almost protested with a half laugh. "I may have been on the sign though. It's peaceful up there." And he got to freak out people being nosy with binoculars if they stared up at him there. His rarely seen playful side did relish in that.

"And I was preparing for the show tonight," he added. "Since you're the hard worker now, I can adapt to a life of show business. Or pirate radio shows anyway."

Ruby wasn't sure she liked being domestic, but he seemed to think it helped and she loved the shop and the chance Lavender had given her much as it drove her crazy sometimes. She just felt...sad about it all sometimes, not hurt, she had no right. But sad. Least until he showed up.

"Yeah well...Its something isn't it. Something else". Still nothing close to the faith she'd had but he'd told her she'd find that in time if thats what was supposed to happen. "And I think you do brood, you have to, what else do you do up there but brood"

The show. Now that was something she didn't think she'd ever see, an Angel on the airwaves.

"Gonna play me some Jim?" she asked holding out one of the records

Something. He supposed he could be okay with that, for now at least. As much as a large part of him wished he could just snap his fingers and make everything well again, the fact was the world didn't work like that. No world did.

"It's not brooding, it's serious contemplation," he almost retorted, a faint smile threatening to break through. "It's completely different." At least that was his argument and he was sticking to it.

He took the held out record, glancing at the cover. Another Doors album. Ruby was consistent with that at least. "You going to ask me nicely? I may just play you some if you do."

Serious contemplation. Of course it was. Ruby decided putting aside her worries for tonight would make things easier, better. And the worries were just that, the things he knew anyway. The feeling of loosing her faith and having nothing to replace it with. And he couldn't give her that. He gave her more than she deserved already.

"I don't know, I still say brooding, lots and lots of brooding. On the sign cause it looks cool" she teased trying to coax a smile out of him "Come you can admit it to me, I won't tell anyone"

Ruby was consistant, she liked good music. And the Doors topped the list most of the time, and as for asking him nicely...

"Well what would that entail. You'd have to define 'nicely'?"

"It's serious," Castiel insisted, pulling her closer in a hug before the smile actually broke through and he looked almost playful. "Occasionally, sometimes it might be brooding. A little bit. And the sign is practical, it allows me to focus on a lot of the city."

And it was iconic. And it startled people if they caught sight of him.

He reached forward and kissed her lightly.

"Well, what would be in it for me if I played you some Jim on the show tonight?"

"Very serious" she nodded over exaggerating it. "Very very serious and only very little brooding happens up there"

She knew he liked it up there though, its where he'd gone when things had been bad between them, when he hadn't known what she'd been doing and then of course when he had. It was somewhere he could really be alone. Really think. And she didn't begrudge him that. He needed it.

But she would still tease him about the brooding, unless he kept up the distracting.

"Well that depends on what you'd want out of the...bargin". It was a prefrable word to deal, she was getting oddly used to different phrasing. "More of this..." she leaned back into his arms again and kissed him.

"I'm glad we understand each other," The angel tried to remain serious, even as a playful look entered his eyes. He did enjoy his time on the sign, away from the chaos of the city itself. It was peaceful and away from everyone and their thinking too much.

Even if he did brood. He had to admit he did sometimes brood. About a year ago he would never have considered it to be brooding, but time spent among humans, and Ruby herself, had taught him that maybe serious contemplation was considered more to be brooding.

One hand sneaked up to brush some of her hair back from her face, before Castiel leaned forward to give her a proper kiss. "Definitely more of this." He pulled her in close with a smirk. The door to the shop was locked and they were very much alone for the night. They could even do his radio show from there, pirate station that it was. "And if I play some Jim, I want you to dance with me," he declared, decisively. Angels could dance, even if most didn't think so.

It was brooding, but she thought she liked that, the brooding angel that she should never have fallen for but had proven unable to resist, even with everything else she had done that had stayed. She wasn't sure anything else could ever be how it was but he was. He was still there for her.

"Dancing? Really?" she asked lightly, "You dance?" Ruby did, thanks to a meatsuit from a while back and the fairly flexible form she was now inhabiting, she could dance reasonably well, but she didn't think that he would have danced. Or known about it.

"Alright...pick a song off there, play it and sweep me off my feet, how about that?"

He was going to stay, do the show from the shop, stay with her and dance with her and she thought that might be the best way she could possibly think of to spend a night.
