Damien was sleeping in his master bedroom. Since he was the older of the two, he had more authority.. obviously. Which meant that he had first dibs on everything. Sleeping arrangements, food, drinks, etc. He had gotten accustomed to seeing the child that looked like his own son. Okay, so it really was his son. It had been hard to accept. He still didn't feel right about it, but at least he knew it was for real. The question was, for how long? He was not certain he wanted to know the answer. He knew that if he got attached, it would be that much worse once they were all sent back.. he'd thought his young self would know this. But much worse for himself... because in his own world, the boy was still gone. Unless something happened sooner to prevent the incident. Which was why he left a file in the computer describing the demon that destroyed Jakob.
He was in sleep, dreaming. Though it was more like a memory. He saw himself coming home, pulling in the driveway. He saw a pile of white ashes on the sidewalk leading toward the gate. It left a bleached streak, as well as scorch marks on the pavement. He was filled with a feeling of dread. Knowing what happened, yet trying to deny it. It was as if he knew it was all that remained of his son. The dream continued.. as he saw himself rush into his home, going to the basement and using the security system to rewind the disc. It was an image of color and sound, just above the gates.

[It showed Jakob walking around, but stopping as the demon stood in front of him. It was a hulking but thin figure, mostly blue and grey in color. It had protruding bone spikes on his body, ridges. On his arms, shoulders, shins, hands, knuckles. It's nails seemed long and dirty, not to mention sharp. And it's eyes had an eerie glow to it. It seemed to stare blankly, then a mixture of two expressions: rage and pleasure. The boy trembled, looking around frantically, fear in his eyes. He dropped to his knees and held his hands up, begging him to leave him alone, that he wasn't worth anything. The creature let out a laugh, putting a hand to his throat and raising him several feet above the ground. And then it tossed him back, looking as the boy fell hard on his back upon the cement. It was on him a second later, punching and kicking him in the prone position.
It had grabbed him up by the neck again. Jakob had tried to pry away. Lights had burst nearby. The fence area near him began to twist. And the demon's hand seemed to waver for a moment, as if struck in pain.. but that just angered it more. It used a free clawed fist and punch him in the midsection. A spike came out of his knuckle, impaling through the other side. There was a yelp, a look of shock.. and agony. The thing raised his fist, holding him up higher.. then letting it down, and the boy fell on his back again. Same as before except that an ugly foot pinned him.. and he was wounded. The creature struck the blade in again, pinning him to the cement. The fist was unclenched. Five silver spikes, each from one finger and thumb, came forth and stuck down into him as the other spike. In several places. Thigh, stomach, chest, shoulder, upper arms. The demon pointed with his other hand and the same thing happened. There were ten spikes.. and the boy gasped, bleeding, unable to speak. All he felt was pain. His eyes were wider now in shock, and his body writhed against it as he also felt poison seeping into him, venom from the bones. Yet his body's system was rejecting it at first, but more came, and the spikes were still in him.
It was then that the tips of the impaling spikes, the section of them that were in him.. there was an odd glow to them. There was very obvious pain from the reaction. More lights burst overhead, yet there was nothing he could do. He could not even cry, scream, or even ask why. He felt hate in him as well, and just might have been able to channel it, use it.. but he had not nurtured that side of him, he'd never wanted to, even though he'd not thought much on it. There was nothing he could do. And he knew it. He knew this right now more than anything. As he trembled, shaking violently, angry and appalled that this beast was actually laughing about it.. he could feel even worse than before. His body, his clothes, they took on the same glow as the spikes.. there was a flash. There was a brief, yet lingering howl of pain and agony, a pulse.. and then nothing but burn marks and ashes were around the beast's hands. It pulled the spikes out of cement, retracting them back into himself. And then it took off speedily, seeming to fade from normal view..]

Damien twitched in his sleep, clutching the sheets in his fist. He was seeing more images in his mind, images of himself reacting to the video. Of trembling with rage, a loud yell, anger. As he copied the disc, there had been a shattering of windows in the upper sections... suddenly, his eyes snapped open and he stood upright in bed. As he looked around the room, he saw that the windows were all intact. It was a dream. A memory. One which he had not dwelt on in some time. Perhaps having his son here again.. maybe that was the reason for it. He rose up from his bed and quickly left the room, opening doors to other bedrooms, then stopped when he saw the right one.
The younger man was resting in bed, peacefully. Ohh. Well, Hell no, that just wouldn't do. He felt hands on him, shaking him. He looked up and saw himself above him. "Hey.. what is this? I still need to get up early.. unless you're planning to work instead?"
"Don't be such a smartass," Elder said, glaring. "I've been thinking. You've been very damn persistent in asking me details about our son. If you knew the gritty truth of it, you'd be less inclined to be so attached. You know he's gonna go back, right?"
Younger nodded, sighing. "I know.. I wish he could stay. I just met him. I want him to stay, he's.. well.. I need him. I think you'd understand that, Other Me. I know it'll be bad when he goes. I'm hoping to prepare him, to find a way for him to survive afterward."
"Sentimental fool." Elder shook his head. He remembered feeling this. Wanting to have others with him. But it didn't last. "And you should know that if you open yourself up again, you're only setting yourself up for disappointment, for tragedy and loss in the end. Give you something and then take it away. But you know what? I think that I will reveal it to you. Because then maybe you will be more wiser about not letting anyone in, or be so quick to let anyone close. Humanity is a weakness."
"Funny, that's not what my alternate self though," he mumbled. Then he spoke up, "Okay.. but really? NOW? This couldn't have waited until morning. Gotta say, your timing sucks." He sat up and propped the pillow behind his back, holding his hands. "Okay. Okay, go on, shoot. Tell me everything. I'm listening now-"
The elder stepped closer. "Actually... I think that it's better if I show you instead." He held both hands on the side of his hold, firmly. "Let down your guard, your resistances. Let me in... be open to me and I'll impart what I know.. perhaps at same time, I'll let you into my mind to see it. Work with me here."
Young!Damien stared, feeling the trance starting. He still wasn't sure he could trust this. It really said something when he couldn't even trust himself with something. He wasn't sure he wanted to be like him.. he liked the power, but something was off. Suddenly, his eyes widened briefly in surprise. "I.. see him. But wait, that thing.. what... I've never.. seen.."
"It's new," the elder said, continuing the process. "Warrior class, predators. Originally, they only had deadly slow-killing venom. You could say that they got an upgrade, all because of one stupid firm-employed doc who couldn't stop being curious. The new version of these things, at least four, are combined with science and demon magic.. well, you will have details. Keep looking..." He stayed open, and was imparting more into himself.
"It's.. no. He should run. Jake, go! Run.. or make his brain pop.." Damien gasped. "Don't you dare touch him, you motherf... you.." He gasped, seeing the spike in his mind's eye. "No. No, it can't.. not him. He's mine, my life, that's my boy, he can't just.. can't. Not him.." It saw the stomping, then the impaling of one. "Stop." He struggled, trying to pull away.
"Oh, Hell no," the elder said, holding tightly. "Didn't heed my warning.. there is such a thing as knowing too much. I want to forget.. but you won't. You even brought him here. Kinda wonder if you did that to rub in my face. You wanted this. You wanted it, now you're going to have it ALL." He continued to stare, pushing farther into his other self.
Damien gasped, he was already in. He could still see it in his mind. It was as if watching a movie. A very bad, horrific, twisted movie. He saw red, he saw taints, heard the sounds. He saw the rest of the bone spikes going in. He gasped, feeling.. something bad. His chest felt caved in, as if rocks set on it. Clenching, tightening. His eyes.. he tried to deny it. "No.. this isn't real!" He nearly yelled out as he saw the burning, the crying out, followed by ashen remains.
The other man quickly let go, standing up to his feet. "So, tell me. Do you still want to know. Does it still make you feel better now that you know what I know? Please, I'm curious.."
"Asshole." Damien stared up at him, wiping his eyes until they were dry again. "You. You.. you are seriously fucked. I swear, if I had those seven daggers right now.." He supposed seeing this would have that affect, but he didn't care at the moment. He really did get worse later, didn't he? He wasn't sure he wanted to end up like that. But now, only one thing was important at the moment. He swiftly rushed out of the room. "Jake..."
The two men came out, the younger running, the other close behind, trying to dissuade him. The younger man quickly opened another door and ran inside. He saw the boy in bed, blankets over him, sleeping quietly. Damien ran over to him, putting arms around him. He seemed to be alright, perfectly healthy.
The boy looked up, rubbing his eyes. "Dad? What.. what is it, something wrong.."
Damien smiled, hugging him tight. "No, nothing. Just.. worried. You're okay now. I was simply worried. You tired?"
Jakob sighed, rolling his eyes. "Well, not anymore You woke me up."
Damien said, "Hey, how about we do something? I know it's three in the morning.. but we.. you know that thing we can do? Our abilities."
"Oh yeah," the kid said with a smirk, "that stuff. But my part sucks. Just make something snap or stop moving. Or make someone happy. Or.. knowing stuff suddenly."
Damien laughed. He was so glad that his future son was alright now. He didn't want.. after really seeing that thing, what it did. He wanted to stop it. "There's more than that. The range of what we can do, it's.. it's very big. I don't know how long you'll be here. But I want to make sure you're ready. I can teach you to expand. Want to?"
Jakob thought for a moment. Then he got out of the bed, wearing only pajamas. "Yeah, okay. We can be like X-Men or something, with the.. learning stuff." He looked up and saw that the older version of his father wasn't at the door anymore. Maybe he went back to bed or something.
"Okay." Damien smiled at that. He reached for his phone and texted a message to his vampire, Jan Valek. It was a text asking him to bring (or steal) a car, as well as other equipment. A digital clock, a Sony Walkman CD player, a loaded pistol with silencer, some light bulbs, and a flashlight. He hit SEND. Then he looked at his son. "Alright, my.. assistant.. if he's not busy, should be in here soon. Then we can start." He hugged him again. "You know I love you, right?"
"Yes," the boy said, nodding. "I've always known that. Me too." He smiled. "I can't wait to kick some.. you know. Maybe we can snipe out some vamps too?"
Damien laughed. "Hey, hold on now.. one step at a time." He preferred that the boy didn't go anywhere near the bad elements. "Let's just see what you can do here first.."
