WHAT: Restraining the crazy one. A.K.A. Take A Shot At Future-Xander. ;)
RATING: PG-13, at least.

In the end, finding the older Xander had taken longer than the low estimate, but not the several hours it might have taken if he had been in possession of heavier-duty protection. As she'd predicted, due to the 'novice/intermediate' state of her knowledge and control of what she could do with the inherited magic, there had been misfires that only showed her the room she was in with Xander while a cell was set up and re-checked for security. Eventually, though, she had located older Xander and watched him for a few minutes before acting.

And act she did as she appeared behind him, barely long enough for a disturbance to register, as she had no idea what his defensive skills were like and wasn't looking for any hand-to-hand combat. This was simply to get him and put him where he would be restrained; to be questioned, reasoned with and even protected from himself, due to his insane mission, and others, who were calling for his blood.

Thankfully, she didn't need to touch him to move him, and so barely seconds later, the world around them both changed, Xander's location melting fluidly into one of the 'werewolf cells' of the lock-up building. The cell, large, durably and heavily protected within the secured building, had been prepared especially for this man to be as humane and comfortable as being locked in a large cell could be.

Some might say it was more than he deserved, but as furious and appalled as she had been, and still was, Sarah wasn't going to treat him like a monster. In the end, Xander was still in there somewhere, no matter how heinous his mistakes had been in the search to protect his friends and save the world.

The very second that Xander caught sight of the two figures appearing within the room he had been waiting, he hurled himself forward and threw a punch at the man who was rudely wearing his face. It hit home. Hard. A pair of arms were quick to wrap themselves around his waist shortly after, in which the two doubles went sprawling across the room in an angry rush. It didn't much matter to Xander that he was giving his future self a physical beatdown, nor did it appear to his future self that he was likely giving himself bruises that he'd be feeling for years to come. The only passing importance in the current Xander's mind was that the idiot had drawn the line. No one took his friends away against their free will. It was wrong.

"You -" Xander grabbed him by the throat and slammed his duplicate into the wall. "- idiot!"

The only reason that the younger Xander was maintaining such an upper hand on all this was due to the simple fact that the future Xander was so caught off guard that he barely had time to react to what was going on. Sarah, the younger him, the...was this the holding cells for the werewolves? He certainly had not signed on for this. It had been well known that they would come looking for him as soon as they found out that he was truly the culprit behind all this madness, but Xander had been expecting a little more time before that concern would be something that he had to deal with.

That had been a terrible mistake.

In all this insanity, he had forgotten one of the most important field rules: never underestimate the enemy.

Anya had arrived later than she would have liked, taking the time to persuade her younger self to stay with the locator spells. As much as she knew the younger Anya wanted to be in there, possibly railing at Xander in her rage, the older one knew it would possibly do more harm than good. She was too hurt, too furious.

Time, and a harsh reality of her own had given the older Anya more perspective, enough to bring her own rage down to a much colder, calmer level. Her face was emotionless as she moved from the Hyperion to the building next door, where the various cages were housed. She arrived just in time to see the younger Xander pinning the older one to the wall.

"That's enough." Her voice carried across the room as she stepped inside, her face so different to anything either Xander would have imagined for Anya Jenkins thanks to the glamor she still wore.

She offered Sarah a small smile, hopefully an encouraging one, as she stepped forward, resting her hand gently on the younger Xander's arm. "Put him down, we need to be able to talk to him."

Much as older Xander hadn't been expecting to have the world suddenly change around him, Sarah hadn't expected Xander to be ready to beat the stuffing out of his older self as soon as they appeared. Though quick, getting out of the direct line of the rumble as the two tangled meant an instinct reaction to step back hard into one of the cage walls, but no other act was needed as Xander slammed his older self into a wall and then older Anya intervened.

Selfishly, seeing Xander punch his older self in the face would have appeased a very emotional and very angry part of Sarah. Faith, Buffy and Kendra were supposedly safe and Sarah believed that, at the very least, older Xander believed that they were. And maybe they truly were – Wolfram & Hart may well have fulfilled their end of the deal because they had already gained something they wanted. But this man had sold Jacen in exchange for kidnapping help. If it had just been Sam – well, it wasn't kind or fair or anything other than a flaw on her personality as far as she was concerned, but she might have at least somewhat understood his motivations. Sam had been cruel to Anya in the past and perhaps that hadn't changed in older Xander's time. It was still a reprehensible act, but she could have understood the why. But Jacen? It made no sense, no sense at all, other than to call future Xander 'crazy'.

But Anya's cold calm was in a strange way somewhat calming to Sarah's fire-hot, Sarah returning the small smile with a flicker of the same.

"She's right, Xander," she said, choosing to step forward toward both men as she spoke. "As much as you want to do this, we all want and need to talk to him more."

Her attention shifted as she continued. "And this makes me no less a kidnapper than you," she said to older Xander, "so make the argument. I know what I've done. But I won't stand by and wait to see who you send to the slaughter next to save another person you decide is valuable enough to save. For their protection and for yours."

Another blow was on the verge of being delivered to the older Xander's face, but the hand on his shoulder brought a pause to the action. It was Anya. Not the version that Xander had been expecting, but the look on her face was enough to make him lower his balled fist. For now. He stared at her for a long moment before his attention fell upon his duplicate. A firm glare was delivered, followed by a sharp shove before he retreated to a space just behind Sarah. Not too far back, but close enough if the man either A) pissed him off again enough for another face pummeling or B) tried anything that he'd need to prevent. Xander didn't trust the other him one bit and it showed through that mask of fury that he was currently sending in his direction.

The older Xander straightened up as soon as he was released. Hand rising to adjust the collar of his shirt, he had eyes - or an eye - for no one but Sarah. "You're making a mistake," he growled, stepping forward. "Do you have any idea how many people are going to die if you don't let me out to finish what I started?"

Of course she didn't. She was stubborn. Single-minded. Sarah only believed what she wanted to believe, as did the other two standing in the room. They were mindless drones. Heads filled with hope and the basic desire to walk into battle so long as someone delivered a pretty little motivating speech before the fight began.

"You're going to let me out of here." He wiped at the side of his mouth, the fleck of blood that had spilled from the punch that the younger Xander had delivered having only just begun to trickle down the side of his shadowed jaw. "Now."

Want and need to talk to him more.

That they did.

And he could say all he wanted but he wasn't going anywhere.

"Not that easy"

The demon stepped into view, pocketing a key card in the back of her jeans to return to Sarah later and tilted her head slightly looking across at the future version of Xander Harris. She'd wanted to help when it was just Solo. She'd wanted to help Sam when she'd heard it was Faith.

That it was Sam on top of those two, as well as the other two Slayers. That added a level that made Ruby suprised Sarah had let her into the hotel. Maybe this went against what Castiel had said about leaving Sam to help himself. But he couldn't could he. It was up to them. And she knew, at the end of the day she could be more rational than anyone who shared his last name. She could talk, and threaten. Maybe in Xander's time she was still that unknown entity. She hoped so. She was sort of counting on it.

With a wave of her hand the door closed itself behind her and her eyes shifted to black as she stepped closer to the group.

"We do need to talk to him. And he'll spill. He's getting that chance before I go in there and get the information. Quick and fast. And it'll sting like a bitch if we have to play it like that" she told the man. "So talking really is the easiest way to go about this. I did a locator for the Slayers and they're not in the city. And Sam and Jacen aren't anywhere my magic will track. So, What deal did you make with Wolfram and Hart?"

Anya glanced at Ruby, her calm expression never wavering even as inwardly she flinched. Yes, she had missed her friend, but she had forgotten how ruthless the demon could be when she wanted to. And regardless of anything else, this was still Xander. The love of her rather exceptionally long life.

Privately she disagreed with Sarah's assessment. Xander had taken them all by surprise, kidnapping, or arranging the kidnap of five people who had been taken completely by surprise. What Sarah had done was very different, even if it was against Xander's will.

A Xander who still wasn't restrained. And with the violence that was threatening to explode from everyone, that wasn't ideal. Muttering under her breath, the witch uttered a spell once powerful enough to restrain a hellgod. "Kali, Hera, Kronos, Tonic. Air like nectar, thick as onyx. Cassiel by the second star, hold mine victim as in tar." The words were so quiet, she doubted anyone would be able to hear until she raised both her hand and her voice. "Thicken." The air around him shifted slightly, holding him in place, for now at least.

"Do you have any idea what you have done?" She asked the older Xander quietly, her eyes fixed on him. "Betraying your friends? You have disgraced my husband and that is something I cannot forgive."

She stepped close to him, close enough to reach out and touch him. Good cop to Ruby's bad cop, calm to Sarah's fire. Or just a woman trying to reach what was left of a man she loved. "Make it right, Xander. Please. Tell us what deal you made."

Jack wasn't far behind Ruby. Though he didn't say anything to make them aware he'd arrived right away. He'd told Xander and Sarah he would be there. Keycard in hand sliding it into his jeans pocket, he listened to the interrogation. Arms folded as he looked around the room before his eyes settled on the older Xander coldly. The door shut and locked up tight behind him until the next keycard holder arrived. "You sold out, Xander." He finally said bitingly. The girls pretty much had it now, so there wasn't a real need for him to get up close and personal. Yet.

He wanted five minutes alone with him. He really did, but first information. Then hitting and yelling. "You don't kidnap friends. " A pause as he kept a steady eye on him. "The least you can do is tell us where you sent them." Jack stated evenly. Glancing at Ruby briefly and curiously a moment, she really was different, she was helping..and not in a sketchy way as far as he could tell. She was being all team-player. But he didn't watch her for long, his attention went back to the older Xander and stayed there. Watching him carefully, blaster weapons at his sides just incase.

Because he'd addressed her directly, Sarah spoke directly back, in between the other actions and words of the others. "No, I don't because you haven't given us lists of names and dates and numbers like the others have," she said, but Anya knows how many people will die if Twilight is the next danger to the city you're robbing of fighters. Ailyn and Allana known how many will die if it's the Cylons and the Vong who show up tomorrow and you've kidnapped fighters and sacrificed our single best chance against them.

"I'm not letting you out and neither is anyone else, so answer their questions, Xander. Please. And then you can tell me how many lives we can save by doing this as a team."

Maybe teams no longer mattered where he was from, but it still mattered here and Sarah wasn't going to see that torn apart either. They were stronger as a whole and destined for failure broken apart; the proof of that was the man before them, morality weakened by his me-against-the-world reactions.

However, there were quickly becoming too many cooks in the kitchen, so to speak. While she'd been ready to let people to be in the building and the room with the cells, even to get a chance to say their peace, too many people in the actual cell was a logistical problem, even with Xander held still by Anya. And too many people jumping on him at once would only make him more defensive and less willing to work with them. Maybe bringing him here had been a bad idea.

"We're not all going to attack him at once, he's not a whack-a-mole," she said, temper flaring.

Wonderful. It was like everyone in the world had found out exactly where he was. Why? Because Sarah had dragged him here. She had been so concerned about keeping him safe, but it was beginning to look very much like her clever action was about to backfire on her. No matter. Xander straightened up and held his head high. He had taken on beatings before. Whatever they could dish, he could take. Unless that demon decided to take a mind leap with him. Or if Anya kept looking at him the way that she - nope, definitely not. Xander would have to avoid paying her any attention. It was a simple enough tactic, really.

That tactic would be simpler if Anya wasn't busy casting spells on him. What was this? Really? Getting zapped around and magicked upon. If Xander didn't know any better, he would think that he was a toy of some sort that they were all looking to play with. In a very tiny way, perhaps that much was true. He had treated their allies with little respect and had tossed them back and forth like dolls and action figures that he alone, as their owner, could make decisions for. He certainly did not own them and typically Xander wouldn't be making those kinds of decisions for anyone, but they wouldn't see it that way and he was almost one hundred percent certain that the type of mindset each and every one of them had was on the level with how they would do unto him as he had done to their companions. An attempt at shifting in place was made. Anya was good with her magic, as he knew, so it was natural that he didn't get anywhere with the try. Again with the wonderful. Fine. Down the line he would go.

"If you want to keep that pretty body of yours, you'll stay in it," Xander told Ruby, expression neutral, "if I could find a way to sustain a former Sith lord, then I can easily find a way to destroy that body you seem to value oh so very much."

Anya was next. He didn't look at her directly. There was a rather fascinating spot on the wall that Xander instead chose to focus upon as he spoke. "I know what I've done. I know how horrible my actions were. I know that I may never be forgiven." He tensed against the invisible hold. Stupid magical barriers. "If it saves all those lives that are due to be lost, it won't matter. I'll live shunned away from all of society for the rest of eternity as long as it guarantees that this world will still have a future beyond it's next ten years." He made no claim at being a hero, but he would die for the world and it's future if he had to. He would live alone. He would be hated. Xander would deal.

Jack and Sarah and Anya and - well, everyone, really, appeared to be asking the same questions. He knew that different threats and approaches would be taken, so it came as no surprise to him when he realized that there was a very good chance that he was going to be stuck here for a while. He didn't have that time to waste, however, so Xander immediately shrugged away from Anya and looked to Sarah in irritation. "Was this your master plan then? Trapping me here, having the masses get in my face while everyone out there is on the verge of death? It'd be clever enough if you were dealing with your run of the mill villain, but you're dealing with me. Anya -" He found that spot on the wall again. "- get rid of this spell. Then I want everyone to get out of my cage immediately."

In which he would then find a way to escape the second that they left him to his own. He had learned a few tricks over the years. If he had to pick a lock or work at loosening a few bars at his window then so be it.

Ruby smirked slightly at the refrence by Sarah "Oh I don't know. He could be a whack a mole. It would just mean me getting my hands dirty and no one wants that. Do they Xander?". She knew where she fit now, Anya was most decidedly playing good cop. and she hoped no one bar Xander in the room would think she actually meant the things she was threatening. But he'd betrayed Sam, and the jackass Jedi. And his friends the Slayers noble reasons or not.

"Cute as it is that you think what you want matters. It doesn't. Your not getting out. Instead you're gonna shut up and listen to me. And hapilly you have no choice. Funny thing, about what you did, betraying your friends. I know a little something about betrayal you know" she told him, stepping in closer now he was held by Anya's magic, "I know that look, the one you'll get from the Slayers, from Jacen. There's nothing worse. Friendship falling apart right before your eyes for reasons you can't understand because you were right you were justified, and if only they could understand why you did it everything would be fine again, right?. Wrong."

She rolled her eyes at the threat.

"You wouldn't even know how. Besides threaten me like that again and you will have an angel right on your ass. You telling me you know how to take him down too?. Now be a good boy and tell us what you know, even if its not a whole lot, you can give it in your words, or I'll get it in your thoughts, and it wont be fun for you. I'll ride you hard and make you squirm inside your own mind and you'll wish we'd just get it over with and kill you because that'd be a release. Now tell me. What was the deal?"
