Sometime between the start of the fireworks and her conversation with Jace, Isabelle had grabbed a hold of her, and she, Aline and Maia had, for some reason, decided they all needed to go get some kind of food, Clary hadn't really been listening. She was busy looking over her shoulder at Jace. Both he and Simon had expressions of amusement as they watched the four of them vanish into the crowed.
"Izzy, I don't see why-" but all went silent, and when she turned around, she wasn't standing in Alicante anymore. Now, she knew there had been no portal. She hadn't created one, and no one else had. Portal traveling was always more rough anyway. She was still standing, and her hair was still in place. Besides the total obvious, something was wrong. She raised her hand to brush her hair, only to find that there was something in it. A Stele, which was odd, because she didn't remember holding on before. Had Isabelle slipped it into her hands? Maybe they had wanted her to do something with it?
Walking down the steps she was on, Clary looked at the darkened street. Groups of people past by, most of them not paying any attention to her. Confused, she picked a direction and started walking. It didn't take her long to figure out where she was. Flashing signs told her the time, date, and temperature of Los Angeles. It wasn't until she read the temperature that she even realized she was cold, and wrapped her arms around herself.
Los Angeles, the City of Angels. Yeah, right. She'd never consider it the city of Angeles after Alicante. Did Angels actually rise out of lakes here, or have children of Angels running around? Where'd they get that name, anyway? She picked up her pace, not sure of where she was going. As she walked she took in the bright colours of the signs and buildings. She was surprised to look up and realize you couldn't see the stars, just like NY. It seemed the Shadowhunters home city had grown on her.
She needed to figure out what was going on, and fast. Eventually, she saw a library, and by the looks of the lights, it was still open. Breaking into a run, she headed right for the building, hoping to get to a phone or a computer. Though who would she call? Everyone she knew didn't have access to a phone right now. Maybe a fire message?
