Who: future!Anya Jenkins-Harris, future!Lauren and then OPEN to the Hyperion
What: Two fighters from the future come back with a warning
When: September 27th 2006
Where: The Hyperion
Rating: TBD
Status: In progress

It almost hurt to be reminded of how it used to be. Anya Jenkins-Harris stood before the Hyperion hotel, marveling for a moment at just how beautiful the building used to be, as her fingers twisted nervously around her wedding ring. This was it, what they had been waiting for years to achieve. So many painful attempts to track the points where the timelines had become weaker, to piggyback a ride across, back through time to before it all began.

Before the pain, the blood and the war.

Anya wished more than anything that Xander could have been here with her. But he was on a mission, one of those desperate types to try to salvage anything to give their people some hope. She missed her husband, so much it was actually painful, but still she hadn't come back alone. She glanced over her shoulder to her companion, the vampire Lauren who had proven to be her friend and ally for many years now.

"Are you alright?" She kept her tone as even as she could, brushing back some of her red hair. It wasn't her true face, not for over a decade, but it was the one she was now used to seeing whenever she looked in the mirror. "We finally did it. And he'll be in there right now." Mitchell, the reason Lauren even stood with her. And goddess, so many more. So many of her friends looking young and alive again.

She drew in a breath, standing up straighter as she braced herself to go inside.

The question gave Lauren pause. She wasn't sure at all what the answer she was supposed to give was. The fake one, that she was fine and this was business, that they needed to get in, warn. Maybe stop this, maybe make a better future.

"No. I'm really not, not even a little. But it has to get done"

She checked over herself again, still looked the same of course, but she knew herself she wasn't the same Lauren from before. She was older, wiser, and had lost more than was fair to loose.

"...He'll be inside and maybe so will...No, I wasn't allowed in the hotel, the blood y'know. Will the world explode if we meet ourselves"

Anya was the big magic girl. Lauren was mostly just here to kill things if it came to it. She wasn't the best choice but their numbers were dwindling dangerously.

"I'm never going to be ready. But lets just do this yeah?"

Anya simply nodded, understanding exactly where the other woman was coming from. It was truly bittersweet to be here, to see them all again. Too many had died and now, they were so close.

"I don't think the world will explode." Twenty years ago she would have smirked at the concept, going into detail to explain things to the vampire. Now, there was no need. Simply her belief that the world would remain stable.

"If it helps, I don't think I will ever be ready for this either," she commented, a rare moment of sharing before she stepped forward, pushing open the doors and moving into the lobby. If things were as she remembered, the security system would be revealing their presence to the hotel any moment.

Lauren automaticly tensed up, new place, unknown but yet known. And he would be here. Her reason for any of this, God, she could almost hear him, telling her to carry on. To fight. She should have gone and not him. Thats how it had been at home, thats what was right.

She wasn't strong enough for this.

But all the same she followed Anya inside as the security system registered vampire. And not one of the ones with accsess.

She pushed her sunglasses to the top of her head and looked around, eyes less painful now she was indoors.

"This is just...Its not what I expected even though we came prepared you know?"

It was by luck, or by chance that she happened to be paying attention to security at the time. Security registered vampire, and not one that was supposed to be here, apparently. That was pretty much the part that made her interested. On her way out to the entrance, she grabbed the nearest pointy object she could find, which ended up being a sword, and then kept on going.

"What did you expect?" she asked, walking into the room, taking in the last bit of their conversation. One girl she recognized, possibly, from over the internet. The other...she knew, for some reason. Though she couldn't place it. She should be able to, there was something very familiar about her.

She came to a stop a few yards away, sword at her side, one hand on her hips. "Can I help you ladies with something?" she asked carefully, guarded. Why would they need to come prepared, and what had they been expecting? No, she wasn't in any way, in charge of anything. But she was the first one here, and if it was something, she'd get a hold of Faith, Sarah or Nathan right away.

If they were going to be a problem, she was pretty sure they wouldn't just walk right in the front door chattering. But still, she liked her lethal objects by her side, just in case.

And then she was there, right in front of Anya and seeing Buffy again like that felt like a punch to the heart. Because she was there and she was alive and looking just the way Anya remembered, with a sword at her side, as defiant as she'd ever been.

"Buffy..." a small smile, a rare expression on her face these days, appeared. "It's been too long."

Well for her anyway.

"There's not really a simple way to explain this," she began, almost hesitant, which was simply beyond strange. She'd been one of the rebellion leaders for twenty years, was so much older than the girl in front of her and yet felt almost the need to follow the lead of the Slayer.

Taking a deep breath, she dropped the glamor hiding her true appearance. It had been years since she'd seen her true face and briefly she wondered how much it looked like the Anya Buffy would remember. The burns, courtesy of Amy Madison's magic, down the right side of her face and chest may have been as much of a disguise as the glamor, but Anya hoped, prayed even that Buffy would still recognize her.

"We," she glanced at Lauren next to her before looking back at Buffy. "Are here from the future. And we're here to save the world."

Buffy Summers. Slayer.

Lauren hadn't had as much of an emotional connection to her. Mostly it had been Mitchell. Pretty exclusively. She'd been sorry when Sam had gone, they'd had a lot in common. But here Buffy was alive, she supposed they all were.

"Its gone to hell, everything to hell. Worse than Herrick ever..."

Well, no, she wasn't sure about that. Twilight was good but she didn't think he'd ever make her blood run cold in quite the same way.

"I'll let Anya explain" she said, wincing as the glamour vanished. She remembered the day that happened too. But her job was to keep the witch safe, make sure she could get them back.

Her first response was to arch an eyebrow. It's been to long for what? She was acting like she knew Buffy, and this woman, though somewhat familiar, she was sure she'd never met before. She glanced from her, to the vampire, and waited. Slowly, the first woman's appearance changed, and Buffy's jaw nearly hit the floor.

"Anya? Is that you?" she was older, and she was burned. She was from the future. That had to be the truth, because younger Anya, Buffy had seen her not that long ago. Oddly enough, not that hard to believe considering this place, and what experience Buffy had when it came to time travel. Everything had gone to hell? What had gone to hell.

The woman, Lauren, wasn't it? Confirmed that it was actually Anya, and Buffy took one step forward, both confused and worried. What on earth had happened to her?

"Who did this to you?" she said, a demanding tone behind it. Not demanding for her to answer, but demanding to find out so she could go and kick their asses before they even thought of doing what. "Save it from who?"

And yet, she was willing to guess she knew. Because the fear that Twilight was coming had been with her since she got here. It was only a matter of time. She knew, for a fact, it would be their hardest fight yet, but all she had got was that they'd deal with it when it happened.

"This?" Anya half smirked, the expression a shadow of the ones she used to have as she waved a hand over her face, slipping the glamor back into place. "Courtesy of Amy Madison." Her voice was cold at the mention of the other witch, the one more powerful than her. It grated at her every day that she'd been bested by that lunatic. And at such a price. not just her face, but every one of her friends Amy had killed.

"And you know who she's working for," she looked hard at Buffy. "Twilight is coming. And we weren't ready, none of us."

Lauren was right, it really had gone to hell.

"We were stupid. We thought we'd have more time, that he'd only target the Slayers, that he'd be weaker than he was. And then when he hit, it all went so horribly wrong."

All those deaths. Buffy's, so public and brutal. Every other Slayer any of them had ever known, Sam, Ruby, Lavender, Mitchell.

"They're all dead," her voice didn't shake, and her gaze didn't flinch. "All of them. And the American public cheered."

Amy. The second she said Amy, she knew exactly what was coming, and the colour drained from her face. "Willow...?" she asked. Willow could beat her, Willow was stronger, she'd seen it. They'd been played by Amy before, but Willow was...well, was she in any shape to beat her? Maybe she'd gone Dark. Maybe not. Maybe she never made it in time, maybe she never came to LA?

She knew they didn't have time, she had known it, that they were weaker, that they were going to be in trouble. "It was never just against Slayers." she half whispered. It was against anyone and everything not human. Slayers were just the headline, the start.

For a moment, she looked like she was going to be sick. Her face fell, shoulders slouched slightly. This was her fault. She had started it. Willow had said so. When she took jewels from the bank to help the Slayers, it had been the trigger.

She looked so hard. Nothing like the Anya she knew from home, or from here, and it wasn't just the burns she couldn't see anymore. She was changed. "Every last one?" she asked. There were almost two thousand of them. "...Xander? Dawn?"

They would cheer, she wasn't surprised. The people they fought so hard to protect would cheer. "A war against humanity." But Twilight, there was no way he was human.

Willow. Anya's face grew even colder at the mention of her, though it was more through grief than anger. "Dead." Goddess, more than ten years ago now. "Kennedy was killed, she didn't take it so well. And it was bad." Explosion size of bad.

"Slayers were declared terrorists," she smirked bitterly. "A danger to a free society. And then it was anyone associated with Slayers, then anyone slightly different. Every year the definition grew wider and every year the humans loved it."

She nearly broke at the look on Buffy's face. It was one she'd seen a hundred times over the last twenty years. Was it my fault, could I have stopped it. Every survivor thought it at least once.

"There are no Slayers left in the world any more. Barely any Witches. And honestly, I have no idea what's happened to Dawn." She hadn't heard any news of the girl for years. She prayed it was because she was hiding. She feared it was because she was dead. "And Xander," her fingers went again to her wedding ring, a nervous habit. "Last I knew he was alive. On a mission though, trying to find survivors. He'll come back to me. He always does."

Faith, meanwhile, had come down the stairs, hearing only the last statement from the woman she didn't recognize.

"Got your message," she told Buffy warily. "Who's this?"

No. "No," she said with a shake of her head, voice slightly shaky "I was in the future. She was alive until-" until Buffy had killed her. But she was alive two hundred years from now. ...unless that changed. "Shit." she cursed, shutting her eyes slightly. None of this was going right. Either way, she was dead. There had to be another way.

Slayers declared terrorists. The definition of it getting bigger. None of this was new or unexpected to her, but as Anya spoke, the picture of their future she painted in her head grew more dark. There were no Slayers left. She was dead, Faith was dead. Buffy didn't even want to know how she died. Twilight wanted her head, wanted it the most, she had probably been the first. Or maybe she was giving herself too much credit.

Dawn vanishing was probably the biggest blow for her a the moment, and that was clear in her features. But Xander was alive. That was good. He was okay. She offered a weak smile at the mention of him coming back to her. "Well, there's that." she said lamely.

Buffy glanced over her shoulder as Faith appeared, and then looked back at Anya. "It's Anya." she explained. "Or Anya from the future."

"Timelines," Anya almost shrugged, though some sympathy appeared on her face. "They're always changing. That's really why we're here, to try to change it for the better."

Because more than anything, Anya wanted to be free of the image of Buffy on television, in chains strong enough to hold a Slayer, as she was executed, the terrified human world screaming for her blood. In many ways that image was the worst. Even with everyone else who had died, it had been the first, the beginning of the end.

The witch glanced up at Faith as she came down the stairs, suppressing her emotions again at the sight of the brunette Slayer. A lifetime ago she had been jealous of her. Seemed so petty now. "Hello Faith," she kept her voice even, devoid of any emotion.

"Hello Anya from the future," Faith's own tone was still wary, though she trusted Buffy's judgment. The other Slayer wasn't stupid, if she said this was Anya then it was Anya. "What's going on?"

Her question was directed more to Buffy than Anya or Lauren, directed at the person she actually trusted in this weirdass situation.

They were warned, so now all they could do was prepare. Make sure they were ready. Gather all the forces and weapons they could, all the power they could, because they were going to need it.

"Remember how I told you about Twilight?" she asked as she turned back to Faith. Her sword was leaned up against a wall, leaving both her hands free, which then crossed over her stomach. Twilight, he was going to kill them all if they didn't become more powerful than he was. But then, what good would that do? They had to stop him before he got the vote of the human race.

"They're from a time after he hit us." she explained to the other slayer. The reality looming over their future was beginning to sink in, and with that, her face hardened. "And we're all dead." she said, her voice suddenly becoming cooler, more determined. "Every last Slayer, Willow, anyone who isn't completely human a potential target." even those who were human, like Xander would be a target.

Looking back to Anya, she made herself focus. "How long?" she questioned. "When does he start getting people's support. How long until the deaths start?"

Faith blinked, her instinct wanting to protest, but she couldn't seem to make the words come out. Not when everyone else was looking so incredibly serious.

Everyone who wasn't completely human. Sam. Claire. TK. The color slowly drained from her face. Were they all dead too?

Anya remained silent for a moment as she let Faith adapt to the news before she finally spoke with the answers she both dreaded giving and knew Buffy would need.

"September 2009," she stated. "You were executed, two weeks after the laws were rewritten. Not long after that the squads of soldiers started, hunting down every Slayer on the planet." She shifted her gaze from Buffy to Faith. "February, 2010." She didn't elaborate what she meant.

Executed.

She didn't even die in battle like other slayers. She was made into a freaking example as people watched it happened. And cheered. All these years of death, of killing, or saving lives, and for what? What the hell did it even matter?

And Faith went shortly after.

"I die September 2009. So Twilight must have his support from society before that. When did you first start to hear about him, before he gained support?" she asked, looking to Faith, she explained. "If we're going to live, we need to get enough power and hit before he becomes Humanity's Hero. Otherwise the world will just come after us anyway. They already hate us, we can't take him out when he's their savior." until they were all day. And Buffy had no desire to take over the world to make them all listen.

She just wanted to live.

They needed to find out where he was now. How to find him, who his support was. They needed every single detail they could get from Anya and Lauren in order to retrace his steps and put an end to it. She refused to die that way. She refused to let Willow die, to let Amy do this to Anya. She wouldn't let Dawn vanish.

She was taking this way to calmly. For now. She didn't know if that was a good thing or not.

"He was smart," Anya pointed out, the loathing she felt towards the man clear in her voice. "It was a slow process, insidious. And he played everyone so expertly."

Humans and demons alike. He'd taken what he wanted from whoever he liked and then destroyed them when they no longer served his purpose.

"It started with that stupid television show. Harmony's. Starting the idea that Slayers were just killers. Then it became more, a campaign that Slayers were not just threats to poor little blonde vampires, but people too." Gods, it was so long ago, trying to remember how it all began was hard.

"He got out your records, both of you. Violence, suspected murder," she looked at Buffy, referencing the times the Sunnydale police had questioned her when she was little more than a child. "Actual murder in your case," she commented to Faith, as the brunette paled. "The security footage from your time at that club became an internet sensation. It helped make the people terrified of you all."

She shook her head. "That won't be what will stop him. That's already been done. You want to break him, you need to expose him. It's been twenty years and we still don't know who he was."

Faith looked up sharply at that. "Was? Past tense?"

Anya nodded. "With no Slayers left there was nothing to stop the Old Ones opening the Hellmouth in Cleveland. Twilight was killed, dragged into hell by something with really big tentacles."

Harmony. "Someone really should have just staked her from the start." she stated dully. So it was already starting. It was in motion, but she knew that. She glanced at Faith at the 'actual murder' part and then sighed. "Jewelry theft." she added, raising her hand in admittance. Yeah, she robbed a bank. Bad Buffy. Someone had to fund the Sayers to keep people alive. Though apparently that plan failed.

Buffy winced, the news going from bad to worse. So, Twilight died, but managed to help unleash the Hellmouth, by killing off everyone who could have stopped it.

"We know he's not human." she pointed out, because he could fly, and have super strength, so he really was full of shit. "I think I know his symbol, and we know he has psycho witch and skinless Warren working for him. They are also very much not human. He's got to have all sorts of things he's hiding...but I have no idea how to find out who he is." that mask was really annoying. "De-masking him..." she shook her head. How did they find him when they couldn't before?

"...he was using magic to track us back in my time. He's got Amy, for all we know he's got some sort of magic...can we find out how to do the same thing?" if they had found her my magic, couldn't they do that to. "Or did you guys try that already?"

Despite the situation, Faith flashed a feeble smirk in Buffy's direction. "Nice."

The brunette sank slowly into a chair, feeling more than a little shaken by the idea. Everyone dead and the Hellmouth opened. It was every kind of screwed up imaginable.

Anya meanwhile was still talking. "By the time we figured out what Amy was up to, she'd already done this," she gestured to her face and for a brief second the burns showed through again. "She magic bombed Wolfram and Hart. All of Wolfram and Hart. She became too strong for us to track." A brief smirk crossed her face. "But right now? She's not strong enough yet. We don't even know if in 2006 she was working for him yet. The campaign against other non humans hasn't started yet and Twilight is still hiding behind Harmony. We can still stop him, if we handle things right."

She shrugged, giving an 'oh well' type of face to Faith. It was done. She hadn't meant to set it in motion.

"Does Harmony know?" The girl wasn't that smart. Maybe she thought she was simply making a better place for vampires, perhaps she didn't know she was helping someone who'd just want to kill her in the end? "I mean, she's not that bright, maybe we could get her to stop bashing us for a bit."

"I'd say right now she's where ever Warren is. When we encountered them while they were working with Twilight, they were just two miles away from Sunnydale. We could start looking there?" That was where the base was in her world. "Could be different here though. It's just where they were set up for a bit in my time."

Before she and Satsu handed them their asses.

It was the security system that alerted Sarah to the arrival, but it was her own senses that told her more as she stood frozen in one of the entrances from other parts of the hotel. No Jedi powers, no empathic powers, no powers of any kind to identify a person... save magic. That not-sentience of her magic did that odd hum-like thing that said that there was magic closeby, and more than that, that it was familiar.

But the questions, like her body movements, where frozen in a horrified silence because of what met her gaze, not her ears. Anya – it was Anya, barely recognizable but still certain because of that familiar-but-different magic recognition of a stronger and more powerful witch, but one she knew – standing there burned and disfigured. It was that sight, and the words that followed, that kept Sarah there, just listening and absorbing what was being said, but not reacting. Some part of her mind said she wasn't ready to react yet, not until she'd moved past the initial impact of the horrible weight of what was being revealed.

This wasn't possible. Nothing, save the Apocalypse, had made death anything permanent when the dying or dead person was someone to be saved, someone who wasn't a villain. What did this mean for the future? Had those who could help been sent away or locked up where they couldn't help their friends and allies, where they would be powerless to stop the slaughter?

But these were here, these two from the future, and that meant the future could be rewritten.

The beep of the text went unnoticed, likely just how Sarah was going unnoticed out of visual range of those in and entering the lobby.

When the text came, Nathan had been out of the hotel, but he could still fly fast, which was how he arrived minutes later, landing on the roof and then taking the stairs down to meet what was going on in the lobby. Sarah was jostled as he entered the lobby in a rush, but he only spared the attention necessary to make sure he hadn't bruised her before advancing on the four women gathered.

Buffy. Faith. Two women he didn't know. All four looked as though news had come of an impending Apocalypse. Nathan hoped that wasn't actually the case.

"The short version first, please?" he asked, waiting for some sort of explanation as to who they were and why they were here.

"Nathan..." Anya's eyes widened. Another one lost and now she finally cracked, moving to hug the flying man before he could react. "I missed you."

It took her a split second to realize that he would have no idea who she was and she stepped back with a wary half smile, before she removed the glamor again. "I didn't exactly age gracefully."

Her eyes flicked up for a moment, to where she could sense Sarah's presence. After so long doing magic with her friend, she knew that feeling anywhere. But she wasn't going to force her to come down, not if she wasn't ready. Anya couldn't blame her.

"The short version?" she looked back to Nathan. "Everybody dies. The slightly longer version, things are going to get really bad and we're all going to take some heavy casualties and we're here to change things."

And it was time to start with the changing. She took a breath before focusing again on Buffy and her questions.

"I don't think we can trust the fate of the world on Harmony," she admitted. "But Amy and Warren, they can be exploited, they have to be exploited before they get too powerful. And besides, the man has no skin and rumor is she gets paid in cheese. They are both Twilight's main weapons and his biggest weaknesses."

She noticed when Nathan walked in, but she didn't have much of a reaction, just an eye flick at him, before looking back at Anya. She missed Nathan. It was really bad in the future. Really, really bad. "I wouldn't suggest leaving it up to Harmony. It's more of a way to slow down the hate fest. If she can stop bashing us on television, it might slow down the hate fest. For some reason she has good ratings." and then maybe other people would stop bashing them? No, probably not, but if the original basher stopped, it couldn't hurt. Every little thing counted.

Buffy bit back a laugh at the 'cheese' comment, why did it not surprise her?

"Alright, so do we have suggestion pool on where to start?" she asked, looking around. Her vote was still Sunnydale. Those two were a real threat. Twilight was going to come, one way or another. Maybe it wouldn't be as bad as it was for Anya and Lauren, or maybe it would. Either way, she knew he was coming.

If Lauren and Anya came from the future, with any hope they had some sort of plan, if not, it was going to be a long planning session. They had to have some clues and suggestions of what to change and where to strike to make things a little better. Right? Though they knew she could count on that.

Looking to Faith, she added. "You might want to look into mystical protection when you sleep." she said with a shrug. If Slayers were the first target, and she and Faith were at the top of the list, another sacrifice might just be attempted by Amy, even if her first one did fail miserably.

Faith finally began to snap out of the near state of panic she was finding herself in. So there was going to be a new bad guy, possibly the worst of the bad guys. This was nothing new, they'd dealt before.

And fuck it, they would again.

"Anya," she looked dubiously at the woman. "Think you and younger you and the other magic types can work on tracing Amy now? Maybe we can stop her before she gets too crazy." Maybe bribe her in cheese, who the hell knew? The Witch nodded her agreement to that plan as Faith continued on.

"Then we find Warren and..." she trailed off with a frown. "How the hell does someone kill a skinless man?" How was he even alive in the first place?

And then there was demasking Twilight, getting Harmony's show off the air and then there was...

She paused in her thinking, looking at Buffy with obvious confusion. "What do you mean mystical protection while I sleep?"

"Warren's with Amy." she insisted. "She's keeping him alive. It's because of her that he is alive, ever since..." she trailed off. Ever since Dark Willow had ripped the skin off him. "They're dating." she added with a bit of an 'ick' face. How anyone dated someone with no skin was beyond her. "I'm thinking no head equals nice and dead." she said with a shrug. When it doubt, go for the head, right? "Her magic is keeping him alive with no skin, but I'm not so sure it makes him impossible to kill."

"One of their first attempts to kill me was to stab me in my sleep. Didn't work because of that mystical protection stuff I mentioned to you when I first got here, but you're more on the radar here than you are in my world, so it's just a suggestion." she didn't have to go for it, or maybe they wouldn't even be bothered to try that here. Still, better safe the sorry, weren't they? Just because this place had alarms didn't mean they could stab someone in their sleep before someone reached the problem.

"Did you ever find out what he was?" she asked, looking to Anya. "I was cut up for days, he put my best fighter in the medical bay with basically one blow." The guy wasn't human. So if people knew what he was, he couldn't really lead a fight for humanity against all things not human. What he was, or maybe what was done to him.

Both Faith and Anya mimicked the ick face that Buffy made at the idea. "That's just disturbing and wrong," Faith muttered while Anya was much more businesslike.

"Removing the head is always worth a try. We've never been able to exactly test just how strong Amy's ability to keep him alive is."

Faith was back on the sleep thing, back to looking freaked out. "I sleep in two of the most protected places in the world," she started before she paused, rethinking it. "But we've never dealt with anything like this so we don't know for sure it wouldn't work." Best to be prepared, up the protections on both the Hyperion and the Winchester house, not just for her but for all the residents at both.

Anya's face grew even darker as she scowled. "We never knew what he was, we could never get close enough to even touch him. Any who tried just got smacked down. We knew he couldn't be human, or at least not the pure type of human he always advocated, but we could never prove it."

"Ok, I have another question," Faith ventured, chewing on her lip as Anya turned her attention to the brunette Slayer. "I know we probably shouldn't ask this, but how do we die? I mean how come Claire couldn't fix us?"

Anya closed her eyes, steeling herself against the memories. All of them. "Because we couldn't get to you," she finally said after a long pause. "We didn't know where you were when they killed you. When Buffy... when it was on TV there was no clear location. Just a blank room. And you, you were taken from the Winchester house and you could have been taken to any of the camps. We suspected South America, but we had no way to find you. And we tried, we really did. Tried to find all of you, just in case we could do something, but there was never a trace."

All of the color had drained from Faith's face. "The Winchester house..."

Anya's jaw clenched slightly as she nodded. "The soldiers threatened to shoot Ben. You went with them." She didn't, she couldn't go on to describe what happened next, to John and Dean, to Sam. As much as she had always had her tensions with the Hunter family, she still respected them and grieved their losses with everyone else. No family should have had to gone out like that.

Lauren didn't talk. Anya talked, Anya, Faith, Buffy, Nathan. They talked. Lauren just walked, paced steps, back and forth across the lobby. If they'd come back anything could have come back and she had to keep Anya alive.

Besides, cold as Anya had grown, these were her friends from before the bad times. Lauren had always been on the outside. Mostly by her own will but even so.

"It needs to be stopped. Harmony. Her show, all of it. Thought it was a joke back when I got here, Vampire Superstar...we were fucking idiots. All of us. We didn't even know till it was too late"

She tensed slightly looking over to the Hyperion residents.

"Mitchell. Is he here?"

She had to ask it, she had to know. But how could she explain to him. The need to see him outweighed that though. Outweighed everything except the mission, protecting Anya was the most important thing

The answer to Lauren's question came a few moments later as Sarah, who had finally unfrozen when Nathan jostled her, had started to make her way across the lobby, paused to check the security system and note that Mitchell was in the hotel right now

"He's here," she said softly. "You're Lauren, right? Do you want me to ring his room and have him come down?"

The question was asked, and Sarah fully intended to do it if Lauren said yes, but now that she was next to the group, the bulk of her attention had shifted to Anya.

Everybody dies. Were these two most of the few who were left out of everyone here now and destined to end up here in the future? It was with a heavy, breaking heart that Sarah met Anya's eyes, searching for something to say.

But how did you tell your friend how sorry you were for the loss of a world? There were no words even close to being adequate.

I missed you. The words didn't immediately have the weight of realization for Nathan as they would have for the others, even if he hadn't been distracted by first reflexively but awkwardly hugging this strange woman, then genuinely and firmly doing so when he realized that the scarred woman was Anya.

And then she dropped the bombshell and Nathan was bowled over by understanding and a hundred questions, foremost in his mind the state of his wife and sons, the rest of his family. He was dead, in order to be missed, but he couldn't seem to process that; only feel alarm for his family. But he wouldn't question Anya now, not when there were things to do.

This future would not happen for them. They couldn't change that these women and those left in their timeline had lived it, that the timeline existed, but it would not be a rule. It would be the one exception if Nathan had anything to say about it.

But it seemed that the others already had ideas aplenty and the "what to do next" was taking shape with every bit of information, and while it left Nathan again feeling he was only what he was in name only, he set that aside. There wasn't time for this, not now.

"We know more about the kinds of protections that Wolfram and Hart and several of the major bad guys used than we did a year ago," he said, "which means the potential to block even heavy-duty magic, so getting the Hyperion and any other base for any of the groups around here should be priority so we have secure places to plan the rest of this. You two," he looked at Sarah and Anya, "and your present self, Anya, who do you need? Just he magic users, or other types, like the Winchester's angel?"

"So did I." she pointed out. "Sateillite monitors, spells, Slayer's on guard 24/7. Don't take the chance they can't get past it." the castle in Scotland was their base, Amy had been trapped inside. So they couldn't save it from explosives and such, but it was well watched, and well protected. Nothing would suck more than slipping up from something little.

Just a blank room. A blank room and no one knew where she was. The thought of her made her stomach roll. "I think I've had my fill of dying." she said hands balling into tight fists. "And if we go it sure as hell isn't going to be as entertainment for the media." what the hell kind of people got kicks out of that? What could make them like that this much? Could she blame them? They probably thought they had legitimate reasons.

Buffy shot Faith a quizzical look. Ben, who was Ben? She was assuming it was someone from the Winchester family, but she'd never met any Ben. He had to be someone important.

"It will." she said, looking to Lauren. "We aren't going to lose this fight to a hypocrite in a mask that looks like he could have been in Nacho Libre. Not now." they had warning, they could do this right. They had to do this right.

If only Willow were here. But to what? Buffy already knew she couldn't risk Will doing more magic. No, she needed...not do magic. There needed to be magic that was under control. "Is..he allowed to do that?" she asked, looking to Nathan. "The Angel...just..help when you need him? There's no rules?"

Anya glanced with concern at Lauren, knowing well how her friend needed to see Mitchell. She couldn't blame her, they had all lost friends and there had been no one closer to the vampire than him. Meeting Sarah's gaze briefly, she gave the smallest of nods, indicating that she should call Mitchell even if Lauren found herself unable to answer.

As Faith was still looking like she was about to be sick, Anya kept going with the planning stages, needing to do something to prevent this ever happening here.

"Everyone is going to need to come together on this one, and as much as I still hate to say it, that needs to include Eve. Wolfram and Hart were hurt as much by Twilight as we were. I know more now about Amy's power than I did at this time, so I will need to talk with my younger self and get her prepared. And then every single magic user is going to need to combine forces to fortify the bases, even Ruby as much as people don't trust her if I remember correctly," she nodded to Nathan, agreeing with his idea. "Here, the Winchester home, the Justice League's base, the Welcome Center, all of them. We cannot allow Amy to exploit any weakness. And yes, I want to speak with Castiel. He vanished several years ago, he'll need to be prepared as well, I don't care what rules he has."

Lauren couldn't answer, she'd actually frozen once it was specified that he was here, This was beyond anything she could have expected to feel, and she'd known he'd be here. That she'd seen him. But what did she even say.

How would she ever explain. Anya's words drew her back to the conversation though. And not for the better

Ugh, Eve, The little Lauren knew of her she didn't like. But Anya was right, this meant everyone. She'd help, do what she can, what needed to be done, she'd follow Anya's word to the letter because thats why she was still alive, a dozen times over.

"What do you need me to do?." she asked Anya "Or do I just watch your back like usual"
