============
Damien Thorn was in the parking lot of his workplace building, his corporation. Everyone, himself included, had the day off. That was one of the perks of being a CEO; he could change schedules at will. It had taken quite a few days for him to have this prepared. There were no cars in the lot. But there were other things. A good number of his employees were there, about ten to fifteen that worked, usually. He also had several security guards posted at some parts of the area. He had several tables lined up. There were also a few barbecue grills, at which a couple were operating. There was chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs. Potato salad. Macaroni. Chips. Chili pots being stirred. There was even a rack with cotton candy. And close by the tables, there were ice coolers with beverages such as soda, juice, and bottled water.
Off to the side was a water tank that was half filled, and a button on the edge, along with a small bin of baseballs. There was no one sitting in the tank at the moment. Perhaps later. On the opposite end of the tables was a huge bin full of spare clothes, while another section had a number of canned goods. Damien himself was walking around, inspecting the various sections, and having idle chat with a few people as they passed by with smiles. Employees were like an army.. keep them happy and they may follow you to Hell. Well, maybe not literally. He had a few followers who would already do that. He also noticed a couple other new individuals walking around, getting plates of their own and such. Perhaps they were driving by when this thing caught their interest.
He stared up into the sky then, puzzled. After a few moments.. he could swear he saw a color streak of blue and red, but it was so quick... maybe he imagined it. Suspicious, he dialed his cellphone. He spoke, "Larry.. Thorn, again. Those papers were filed to those names yesterday, right? Tell me, I think... oh. Wait, what now?" He paused, no amusement on his face. He had an expression of disbelief. "No, no, you've got to be shitting me.. no way. Oh. Oh, right.. yeah, I was a bit rushed before. So let me get this right. It wasn't an actual restraining order? It was merely a request for one. Well, now what happens?" He paused. "Right, a hearing, they're notified.. need a hearing. So, you mean it's their move. I don't think they'll do much, just sit on it because they can."
Damien paused again, shaking his head. He probably looked stupid to them now, moreso than usual. He wanted this done. Needed those orders as a form of protection, as a sort of backup. "Okay, then. I'd like, the next step, maybe I should take steps to.. to.." He stopped. He seemed to have a light that turned on. "No, forget it. New plan. I'll do nothing. Let them go about under the assumption that I'm too dumb to press this, as if I still think it's valid.. I can use this to my advantage. So yeah, I think I'll let them do their part, if they even decide to. Just wait and watch. I'll keep you posted." He hung up then and dialed another number. He smiled when he heard the excited voice. "Logan? Hey, how's it going with you and Sylvia? Good! Oh, really.. that much.. that often. Wow.. I'm proud of you. Well, check this out.. you know I'm at work now for this event I mentioned? If you two haven't eaten, just come by. Also.. sometime tonight, maybe tomorrow morning, I need you two to come to my manor. It's important. Yes, sure. We can use my pool for swimming or whatever. Yeah. Okay, buddy." He hung up again and put the phone in his pocket. He was going to miss those two soon. But he had to let them go. That was another plan of his he was going to put into motion shortly.. he'd have to make sure there were no distractions for that.
He sighed, hoping he didn't get many more calls now. Seemed to never end these days. Even on a day off, people are contacting him. Maybe he'd get a break from that now. At least long enough for him to enjoy himself here. He grabbed a paper plate and fork and filled it with a buffalo chicken wing or two, a cheeseburger, and some macaroni. Then he stopped by a cooler and retrieved a cold Pepsi can. As he walked over to sit in one of the folding chair, he glanced at the water tank with a smirk. As he took a few bites, he wondered if anyone would volunteer themselves for the dunking game. If not... well, he could always volunteer himself instead....
