"Remember before, when I was going to open a magic shop?" she asked. "And then the PTB whisked me away to my home world again?"
She paused for a second, glancing down at the table and chewing her lip. She really wanted to believe what Ruby had said, but what if she was lying? What if by hiring her Lavender was putting everyone in jeopardy? She hadn't been here after all, she didn't know all the details of what happened, she probably never would. Still she had told Ruby she wasn't going to go back on her word, so she wouldn't. Besides, if Ruby had changed, if she wanted to make up for everything...then she needed this chance. What type of person would Lavender be if she said no to that?
"I'm sure you know, about Ruby," she glanced up at Sarah, more that a little nervous about her friend's reaction was going to be. "I um..."
Lavender had no idea how to phrase what she was about to say.
"Bloody hell," she muttered under her breath in frustrtion. "I hired her! I hired Ruby for my store. She said she wants to change, to make up for what she did. She wants to work for me, and I said yes. What if I'm wrong?! What if it's a lie? But then what if it's not? What if she means it?! Oh, Merlin," Lavender had gone from unable to speak to not being able to stop. "Sam won't forgive me for this will he? And Faith and Claire? Everyone is going to hate me! I mean I get it, I get why they will...oh Merlin!"
Lavender hid her face in her arms. "Not even back a week and look what I'm into!"
