Who: Bruce and Terry
What: Normal things!
When: August 19th. Daytime! WHAT. I know right?
Where: The manor
Warnings: NONE. For the first time in ever. Bat-shenanigans. Yes, shenanigans.

Terry was almost nervous even though he knew he really shouldn't be, it wasn't a test. If there ever were any he'd already passed them. This was the first time they were doing things outside of the cowl since he came crashing into Bruce's life in the middle of the chaos that was L.A. He was doing better since the incident with the other Bat. He was finally starting to understand. When it came down to it there really had been no choice. He did a good thing. That Batman would have only caused more pain and suffering had he been left to his own devices. It took him a while to be okay with the idea. But lately he seemed almost there. Couldn't hang onto the past forever. It wasn't good for anyone.

He was in the kitchen waiting for Bruce to come down from his room, or study-or wherever he'd disappeared to in attempt to avoid the scary out doors. Terry wasn't letting him off the hook that easily. He wanted out of the musty mansion. There was only so long he could stay cooped up. Especially since he was taking a break from patrols-it wasn't like he had any place to go at night. He was actually calm and relaxed for the first time in weeks. Taking a step back was doing some good for him.

Dante and Ace were sitting beside him expecting there to be food, and disappointed when there wasn't. Terry just grinned down at them as they nudged his leg for attention, and he toyed with their ears one at a time. Ace had been showing Dante the ropes, Dante was actually behaving. Terry didn't have chewed shoes, or chewed ipods brought to him as gifts anymore. Dante still kept one of Bruce's shoes as a comfort toy-but it was an older one, so Terry didn't mind. He wasn't so sure about Bruce though, but he'd get over it eventually.

Saying that Bruce didn’t want to go to the boardwalk and mingle with normal people would be an understatement if there ever was one. The sun was up. It was bright. There were small children outside, screaming their lungs to shreds because they wanted ice cream and they wanted to ride the roller coaster and there was an ocean so why couldn’t they go swimming in it? They would all be yelling about something and their parents would cave under the pressure and buy them their ice cream, and then Terry would want ice cream and he would be forced to stand next to the screaming children and he really needed to stop thinking about it.

He couldn’t escape and hide out in the study because Terry knew exactly where that was and would come looking for him when he didn’t show his face. He couldn’t retreat down into the cave for that very same reason and arguing would get the kid upset and if there was one thing he didn’t want, it was Terry cranky and refusing to look at him for two weeks. He’d already gone through that. Bruce didn’t need a replay, thank you very much.

“Let’s go.” Walking into the kitchen (it seemed more forbidding now), Bruce didn’t sound excited, didn’t look excited, and didn’t think that he could appear any other way. If Terry had any say in it, he made a guess and told himself that he wouldn’t be allowed to brood for as long as he wanted to. Brooding ruined family outings. He’d have to stop it.

Terry knew Bruce wouldn't be thrilled with his choice of outing. In all fairness he had given Bruce the option to chose what they did. He had attempted picking something they both liked, but that was pretty much impossible when he didn't really know what Bruce liked aside from kicking ass and taking names. He tried to find out, but Bruce wasn't exactly the easiest person to open up, he didn't give hints. It was a little frustrating. Even more so was the damn near scowl he could practically feel from him when he came in the room.

He was acting like it was a prison sentence or something. Terry gave him a look. Bruce had scary and menacing down, but the kid had his own version. He had learned from the best after all. His may not bring criminals to their knees, but they could make the lives of billionaires everywhere miserable if they didn't catch the hint.

"Is it that bad?" He said finally as he stood to follow Bruce and rubbed the back of his neck in a sheepish way.
