WHO: Sky Tate & Jack Landors
WHAT: Sky goes for a run. Danger be damned - he's an effing Power Ranger - and runs into Jack who's handling some business.
WHERE: Park.
WHEN: Early Evening.
RATING: PG-13, for cursing and violence?

Sky went for a run. Night had fallen and he knew that he should probably stay in what with all the monsters out and about stalking, killing, and maiming but that was the point, wasn't it? Why did he have to put his life on hold when he'd been kicking evil ass for a while now? He as a Ranger. An SPD officer. He wasn't about to let some low lives dictate what the hell he was going to do. So, Sky was out for a run. Deal with it, he told the world.

Sky wasn't stupid, though. He wouldn't leave without some sort of protection.

So, zipping up his hoodie, he slipped in his head phones, checked for the SPD morpher in his back pocket, and the stake he'd found on the floor, then headed for the park. As insane as it was to want to go there, he kind of liked earthy places. It reminded him of home a bit. He half wondered if he could set up an SPD office here.

Eventually, though, as with all best laid plans, there came a snag. Sky had stopped to catch his breath, bringing his brisk run to a slow jog to a walk, he came to a stand still as he bent over taking deep breaths before standing up and wiping off the sweat from his face. From the corner of his eye, he could see a shadow move. He hated shadows. It could be a good thing or a bad thing. He wasn't sure yet.

Sky turned back, pulling the headphone out of his ear, and said, "Jack?" It was sad that his first instinct was to hope it was Jack. What did that say about him? Or maybe he just wanted it to be Jack. He hadn't exactly been the most tolerable roommate. Sure, he cooked and cleaned and all that. But he wasn't Jack Landor's fucking wife, thank you. Sky needed a life too.

"Hello?" Hopefully his life wouldn't end before it began.

Jack honestly didn't know what to make of Sky as his roommate. Was he his roommate? How much longer would it last? Maybe he shouldn't bother to get attached. People came and went. That was just how it was. Sky was a big boy he could take care of himself obviously. He didn't seem to need Jack at all, and he didn't know which was more frustrating. Sky Tate in general was the answer to that. But now his mind was far from Sky and that apartment.

He was back in his element. Demon land as he fondly called it. Why was it always the park where he ran into bad? He wasn't even in the city yet technically. "Couldn't wait to see me again could you?" He said to a small group of vampires that started to crowd him. " Just couldn't even let me have a little fun tonight could we?" The vampires looked confused. Jack was in a mood. He was relying on hunting to help and they weren't making it easy coming to him. Sometimes the hunt was enough to rid of pent up anger. Tonight it looked like he was going to be denied that.

Quick and effortless. One stake to the vampire to his left, another to the right. Dust. All over his clothes. Ew. "I just had that dry cleaned." He said brushing off his favorite red and black coat's sleeve. Jack was deadly accurate, having one of the best shots in the city paid off some times. Twin blasters pulled, fired at two vampires coming at him, one from the front and the other the back. More dust. Not even a challenge. He didn't hardly break a sweat..that wouldn't do.

The dust settled when he heard more movement behind him, but he didn't recognize it. He and Sky had barely spoken since he arrived. Barely did the things they used too, Jack practically didn't know him anymore. That was very dangerous and very bad. Jack heard the sound of footprints before he heard the voice. "Come back for more?" He glared as the dust distorted his vision and he fired at the feet of the approaching figure.

What the hell? Sky just barely dodged out of the way of the blasts, crashing into a bush and glared. He hated being shot out. Blasters were new, though. So, either Jack was trying to kill him, which was doubtful, or there was a new villain in town. Grabbing his morpher, determined not to take any chances, he shouted, "SPD. Emergency." In a flash of blue light, where Sky had once knelt was SPD Blue.

Without a second thought, he launched into the air, flipped, and landed a flying kick square into -

It was too late for him to stop when he realized that it really was Jack. What the hell was he doing shooting blindly like that? He could've seriously hurt someone. Like a civilian. What had gotten into him? He knew he'd been keeping his distance but Jack knew better than to be so careless.

Jack wasn't expecting anyone to so stupidly be out once the sun went down. Most of the city disappeared indoors after it sank. This was his usual route. The past year, Faith knew it. The Hyperion knew it. Apparently there was one he forgot to tell. He just didn't think he'd have too. He didn't think Sky would be one who gave into hunting and wandered into the night. Nobody had been there after the sun went down. Through the park he checked before he patrolled-like always for civilians. First it was the park, then to the bad parts of town. He took the hit and fell with it.

A grunt of pain as he landed on his side. Something hard had hit him. Metal like. He forgot how much SPD armor hurt. How tough it was. It had been months since he actually morphed..

"What the hell Sky? Are you trying to kill me?" Jack glared as he saw the blue when the dust finally settled.

"What the hell me?" Sky shook his helmeted head. "What the hell you," he shouted, pointing at him. "You could've killed me!" Literally. "What the hell is wrong with you?" Sky was so annoyed. Had good reason, too. Had Jack finally lost it? "The Jack Landors I know would've at least given a warning before shooting like a crazy person." Sky powered down since there wasn't exactly a threat at the moment (because yes, Jack? So. Not. A. Threat. Right?).

He stared at the arm of his hoodie and huffed. "And my hoodie is singed, are you happy now? Jesus, Jack. What the fuck."

"Do you hear yourself? Give a warning to vampires? Sky I dunno if you've paid attention but we're in the middle of a war. I'm not going to tell the nice demons that I'm about to fire a round. It tends to complicate things." Translation? If you paid more attention to me? You would have known this. Putting away his weapons, he frowned and stared at Sky. "Open your eyes Sky. This isn't New Tech, but this is my route." He said as he motioned to the area they stood in.

"I told you like five times..." His voice trailed off. He looked away and refused to look back.

"So, if you'd shot me and killed me, would you be feeling morally superior right now?" He stared at him. "God, what if I'd been someone hiding and scared? Would that have been okay? Cause they should've known better?" War was one thing. It was how you won it that mattered. If Jack was going to win at any cost, even of some poor guy who was in the wrong place and at the wrong time, then Jack most definitely did not deserve to have that red morpher.

"I covered the area before the fight. Like always. Like protocol. Checked everywhere, no civilians. I know what I'm doing Sky. I've been fighting here for a year and suddenly you think you can just.." His voice trailed off. Jack knew he shouldn't hold back but right now if he didn't he was worried he would say something he'd regret. He looked back and met Sky's stare with a glare of his own. Sky was still new. Jack knew the city, but he was being lectured?...He watched Sky with disbelief and looked away. He'd been waiting for one of them to notice he'd been missing, and try to find him. Finally he thought Sky gave a damn. Now there they were yelling at eachother in the middle of a park over the same old stupid shit they always fought about and he stopped himself. He didn't want this anymore than Sky did. "You know what, nevermind. Sorry about your hoodie, I'll buy you a new one."

"Okay, and what happens in the 20 minutes you're busy fighting?" He quirked a brow. "God, what if someone came by to give you a hand?"

He shook his head. "No," he said, "You clearly have something on your mind. Might as well spill it out before you start sobbing about it into your pillow like a big girl."

"No." Jack said simply as that. He didn't feel like sharing anything with Sky. All Sky had done since he got there was treat him like dirt. Like he did when they first met. It was like week one SPD Academy all over again. "You're still mad." It dawned on him."All this time, you still want my morpher." Jack had half a mind to tell him what the future had in store, but he wasn't that mean. He wasn't ready to alter the future more than it might already be.

Sky blinked. "What?" His brow furrowed completely thrown aback. "What the hell are you talking about? This is so not about that. Did you just start taking stupid pills?" He let out a frustrated sigh. "This about you being reckless and down right reckless." He'd known Jack to take risk but not at the endangerment of his friends and team - it was like starting back from day one. Just another angry convict trying to be tough. Sky had honestly thought Jack had learned something.

There were things on his mind, but like hell he wanted quality share time now. "What do you want from me Sky?" Honestly Jack didn't know how to react. Part of him knew deep, deep down Sky was right. Firing lasers was knew for him. Normally when he used the blasters he was in a closed alley not an open park. "Things change.." People change. Sam changed, everything he knew changed. He'd gotten sloppy, everything was so out of his control. Sure at SPD there was a level of chaos, but he had a position of command. Jack had always been able to control his team to a certain extent. Here in L.A. he didn't have that outlet. He'd signed up for the police force, but it didn't fill the void. It didn't even come close.

"Yeah, they do," he replied, "I thought you had. I thought you'd woken up and become a better man. Someone I." He paused and took a deep breath and cleared his throat. "I never thought after going through SPD training someone would change for the worse." He shook his head. "Do you even see yourself anymore?" Sky began to walk away. If Jack was going to act like he didn't care then Sky wouldn't care either.

Sky's comment actually cut into him. Truth time. Or he was going to lose everything again. If he lost it this time he wasn't sure he'd be able to live with himself. Enough pushing. Enough distance. "Sky. Wait. " Jack followed. He needed Sky. So much more than he thought. Without him....well, he was scared to find out what would happen without him. Tonight's little adventure was only a preview. Without something to fight for, some reason to keep going Jack went astray. He needed direction. Needed his team. Specifically..Sky. He reached out and took Sky's hand physically stopping him. "Your right..." His voice trailed off. He let everything bottle up inside. Like he used to before SWAT. Before training. "I was scared."

"Of what?" Sky shouted, despite himself. He wasn't sure why he was angry. He knew Jack was trying to make things right but Jack was seriously starting to freak him out and now was not the time for soft touches and whispers. Jack needed a verbal bitchslap to snap out of it.

Jack simply stared. Coldly even. For a while he was silent. He remembered ranger training. Remembered all of it. But couldn't apply it anymore ever since Kira's death, he'd been off. He didn't even realize it. "Me." He corrected in a bitter tone. Not letting go of Sky's wrist. "All of it." He admitted. Ruby recently re-opened the Kira wound with her biting comments. He started pushing them all away again. Closing up. Maybe if they didn't like what they saw, he could spare their lives. Silly reasoning, but if it kept them alive wasn't it worth it? He wanted to think so. But this was Sky..they'd been through so much together and he'd never held anything back before. "I need your help Sky. I can't do this solo."

"To do what?"

Sky was starting to get really confused about all of this. "Maybe you need to take a step back and take some time off, Jack." His brow furrowed. "Figure out what the hell is going on in your head before you seriously hurt someone." Pause. "Or yourself." He paused. "What good are you dead?"

"..I..don't know. This..This isn't what I wanted to be." His hand slipped away from Sky's as he sighed and folded his arms. He didn't know how to explain it. Didn't have the words. His head was starting to throb, and he felt a little light headed. He didn't really think anything of it until his vision blurred and he felt warm. Rubbing his eyes he tried to shake it off. It was probably just a headache. The longer he stood there, the worse it felt. The harder it was to focus.

"Jack are you feeling okay?" Sky gave him a hard look. "Let's get you home," he said. "Cool off. Someone else can handle patrol for while. You need to slow down." Sky was trying his best to calm his friend down. Otherwise... Well, he wasn't sure what would happen. Maybe he'd snap.

"Yeah...I'm fine. " He replied though he wasn't sure if it was to convince Sky or himself. It was just a headache. That was all. He'd been pushing to hard. Working, patrolling, worrying. Ontop of that keeping everything inside and bottled up couldn't have been doing any good. That was it. "Actually..maybe we can sit for a while first?" He was already half way there anyways.

Wasn't like he had much of a choice at this point, and watched Jack sit. Sky wore his perpetual 'this is annoying' face which looked, oddly enough, a lot like his 'worries about your well being' face. Sky, apparently, was not a man of many faces. "Five minutes then we're taking you home," he said.

"S'all I need." He hoped it was all he needed. Jack had his knees pulled up to his chest and his head down. He was uncomfortable. His eyes closed and he felt worse. He thought sitting was the answer, but he wasn't so sure. "Didn't bring any Advil did you?" Jack asked after a few moments of continuous pain. He attempted to stand, his attempt was a shaky one but he was just happy he made it up at all. "Lets get out of here."
