Ruby didn't blink, or flinch at the condecending pat on the cheek. She was used to it from more powerful people and didn't react the way Castiel did. The fact that he reacted at all though. It meant something. It must have meant something. He still loved her even if he didn't like her. That had to be it.
And then there were the Winchesters, Claire, Faith. Ben had broken her heart more than any of them. The way he'd looked at her. She'd never wanted that. Never at all.
And Sam, practicly hiding behind Faith. That wasn't him, that wasn't the strength she had intended for the Boy King. That wasn't what she'd wanted at all. Not at all.
"Perfectly clear" she replied calmly. Still not bowing, but respectful of them for what they were. For what they could do. She wasn't stupid, and she prefered him to the other two. Most definitely.
The guy vanished in a twist of smoke and Ruby looked to the other two.
"No questions. I lost fair and square and I'm well aware of what I can't do. No blood no hint of trying anything to restore Lucifer or you'll wipe me from existance. Honestly. I like existing and I'm fully aware of what you people can do. I don't have to like it. But there it is"
She could feel Castiel, so close to her, but not close enough to touch, she still loved him, she truly still loved him. But she supposed that didn't matter.
