Who: Sky Tate & OPEN
What: Sky's bored. Again. Decides to go check out The Lux and perhaps meet some people.
When: Saturday night.
Where: The Lux.
Warnings: Um. None that I can think of.
Rating: PG.

Sky was pretty sure it was time to be social.

Well, about as social as one could get when they were Sky Tate. Now, Sky wasn't a generally unfriendly guy. If anything, he was cautious. A bit stoic. But with his friends -- his real friends -- he was far more open than he'd been at the SPD academy. Not that he wasn't friends with his teammates. It was just... Different. So, the prospect of being in an not-so-familiar place in an unfamiliar time in a strange far off world, well, it didn't exactly bring out the Happy Fun Guy in Sky. Especially with demonic entities running around and ripping people's throats out. But Jack had friends. And if Jack could make friends, he could certainly do the same.

And it started with a job. A possible job, anyway. One of the owners of The Lux had said they were looking for people to fill some positions and having his own money sounded mighty fine right about now. Plus, it would give him something to do other than hang around the apartment all day and clean up after Jack, who, of course, forgot all about keeping within standard habitation codes and upkeep. Still, though he was loathe to admit it, it at least gave him something to do. Asking to tag along with Jack felt so wrong. Plus, he knew his life outside of the apartment wasn't exactly something Jack wanted to share. There were boundaries.

Jack would let him in on when he wanted to. It wasn't like they were dating for God's sake.

So, the Lux was his destination for the night. Do some research. Decide if it was the kind of place he could see himself working in. Though, to be honest, it wasn't like he had many options. Once he was inside, he took a deep breath and ordered a drink. It certainly had enough to keep just about everyone entertained. After being handed his drink, he found a place to sit. Sky ran his fingers through his hair brushing his fingertip on the rim of the glass. Shit, he thought, maybe I should have asked Jack to come with me.

Life was actually pretty good for Sam Anders right then. Things were calm again after the other version of him had been killed and things at the Lux were going well. And there was Mirta and the baby. A slightly goofy grin crossed his face as he thought of them. They would have to start thinking of getting baby things soon, as well as doctor's appointments.

Even being the owner, Sam still enjoyed the time he spent working the bar, less and less these days as the running of the club took over his time. Tonight though, he was pouring drinks and clearing glasses, enjoying the routine of it.

He wandered over to a few tables, grabbing some empty glasses ready to be washed when he saw the guy sitting down, a new face for him. He grinned easily as he cleared the table next to him.

"You having a good night?"

Was he having a good night? Well, no one was dying and there weren't any monsters attacking that would have him morph into action, and considering the stories that Jack told him, well, yeah, he was having a fairly good evening. It was just uneventful. "Yeah," he said, finally. "I am." He glanced around the room once more before offering Sam a half grin. "You have a nice place here."

He propped his head on his hand. "I heard you guys had openings, is that true?" Sky took another sip of his drink and watched Sam curiously, who seemed to be having a nice evening. He was positively beaming, which... Good for him. At least someone in this town wasn't bogged down by the evils of the city unlike certain Red Rangers that he knew.

The guy took his time answering, which was enough to keep Sam interested in the conversation as he grinned. "Thanks. Still haven't entirely figured out how we ended up owning the place, but it's fun to do. Keeps us out of that supposed war." He rolled his eyes, still irritated by the whole good vs evil debacle that seemed to insist on dragging people in.

"We do, few vacancies right now. Bar staff mostly, also DJs, entertainment, chefs, few areas really," he smirked. "Why, you interested?"

Supposed. Interesting choice of words. "You don't believe there's a war? Or you don't believe in good and evil?" Color Sky curious, of course. It wasn't like he was offended. Well, entirely. As a Ranger, he was fairly sure he'd seen enough evil to know that it existed and that it was at odds with one another.

"I can bar tend," he said. "I was a bartender for a while." He'd been on an undercover mission, of course, but he still had to learn how to actually play the part. "Working would definitely be a plus at this point. I'd like to be able to do something other than sit around the apartment all day."

Sam frowned for a moment, considering the answer. "I think we're being pushed into a war none of us want by these so called Powers. But ultimately, they can't force us to fight and well, if none of us, there wouldn't be a war. Good and evil I believe in, I've seen it, both here and at home," he shrugged with an easy smile. "I was involved in a war back home, where the sides were beginning to blur into each other. Now I'm here, I'm staying well clear of any of that stuff. Strictly neutral. I've got my club, got my girlfriend and we've got a baby on the way. I'm not fighting in anyone's war again."

The smile grew wider as Sam stood up. "Why don't you come over to the bar now and we can see what you can do. Can't be much worse than me before I started out, we didn't have any of these cocktails back home. All moonshine from the engineers that tasted like something the engines actually rejected."

Well, you couldn't argue with that kind of logic. It just wasn't in Sky's nature to stay neutral. He believed in justice. In doing the right thing. In standing up for what you believe in. But that was back home. He didn't exactly know where he fit into in this big bad world of an apocalyptic war. He'd figure it out eventually but until then it would be nice to have money and something to do while he "found" himself, so to speak.

"Great," he said as he stood up and finished off his drink and let Sam lead the way. Sky grimaced, though. Moonshine? That was like death to the esophagus. Or so he was told. Sky wouldn't touch the stuff with a ten foot pole. "Well, it's been a while since I mixed anything. It's just like riding a bike, though, right?"

Sam stepped behind the bar before gesturing for Sky to follow him. "If I could ride a bike, I'd tell you," he smirked. This was more like his world now. Frak the big wars, he was done with them. After the Galactica and living on the run, in cramped space ships, he figured he'd earned the break.

"Come on, let's start with pouring a good beer," he grabbed a glass and handed it over with a grin, pointing at the taps. "Lets see what you got."
