WHO: Mitchell and Annie (others at the Hyperion?)
WHAT: The vampire comes to see his ghost shaped friend.
WHEN: June 21st- afternoon
WHERE: The Hyperion
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In progress

This was not what he had in mind for today. Today's plans included drinking tea, watching Countdown and hoping that there'd be no fallout from the rest of the vampires after the death of Herrick. Mitchell had been on edge since that night, waiting for the consequences. He knew those people too well, he knew sooner or later something would happen.

This hadn't been what he expected.

LA. Los Angeles. America. The vampire had to admit he was confused. Also, grateful for his sunglasses, shielding his sensitive eyes from the harsh sunlight. How had this even happened?

It felt as though the tables had turned, with Annie being the one with the answers. He was so used to being so much older than the other two, so much more experienced in the ways of the supernatural that being all lost like this was disconcerting. Still, he pulled his collar up as he hunched his shoulders, walking in the direction of this place Annie had mentioned. Of course he had to walk. No American money for a cab.

Eventually he found the place, cautiously wandering inside.

"Annie?"

She was trying very hard not to be too happy about Mitchell's sudden appearence. She liked it here, she really did but she'd missed Mitchell so much. She'd missed George too of course, but the two of them didn't exactly see eye to eye a lot of the time, it was different with Mitch though. Sure they argued sometimes but he was still her closest friend.

She was lingering in reception, a cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit on a plate, as promised as she waited for him to arrive, tapping her fingers on the reception desk. The moment she heard him calling her name she places the things down, not wanting to spill anything as she practically threw herself at him to give him a hug. Perhaps it hadn't been long for him, but as far as she was concerned it had been months.

"Mitchell!" she said excitedly, hugging him possibly a little too tightly, but it wasn't like either of them needed to breath was it. "God you have no idea how happy I am to see you!"

Mitchell was barely through the door when he found himself with an armful of Annie. Not that he was complaining right now, in fact he was feeling damn grateful she was around as he hugged her back, just as tightly.

"I think I can guess, I mean I'm pretty happy to see you right now. A friendly face and all that," he grinned at her before finally putting her down so he could see around the large space of the lobby.

"So this 'Hyperion'? And LA? How, Annie?" He gave her a confused look that had so many questions in just one expression before holding up a hand to pause any answer before it could come.

"And tell me there's tea."

"Oh yeah, you probably can," she agreed, grinning up at him. She really couldn't help it. She was always pretty easily excited and bouncey but Mitchell being here had brough it out of her even more than usual.

She laughed at his question. "As promised," she confirmed. "And a chocolate biscuit. I really am far good to you. Come on, I just put them over here," she added, leading the way across to reception to grab his tea.

"We can go upstairs if you like?" she offered. "I have a room, not that a use it very much for obvious reasons, but it can get pretty busy down here sometimes and I think all things considered going somewhere we can talk properly might be a good idea, yeah?"

Whenever Annie grinned, Mitchell couldn't help but grin back and today was no exception. Even with all the strangeness.

And there was tea. Thank god there was tea, and made by a British person so he didn't have to suffer an American attempt. "You are a goddess," he declared, picking up the mug gratefully and taking a long, vitally needed, sip. And a chocolate biscuit. Life was pretty good.

"Ok, upstairs," he nodded, not really wanting to deal with lots of new people right now, not until he had a clue what was going on. "And then, seriously, you've got to tell me what's going on. This place, this hotel, how you've gotten a room and a job here?"

"An angel, a goddess, careful Mitchell you might start giving me ideas above my stations," she warns, watching him as he drank the tea. It was strange how good it felt to see him doing that. She could do so much more, she knew that but somehow providing one of the boys with tea felt pretty damn important and his reaction only supported that belief.

She lead the way up the stair case and towards her room. She looked back at him when he spoke though. "Trust me. This place is...different. Sort of like back home different only significantly moreso."

She didn't bother carrying a key with her, because she's rather inconveniantly died without suitable pockets, so instead she just walked through the door and unlocked from the otherside, opening it for him and standing aside so her could enter. "In you come then. I'm assuming you still need permission to enter private rooms. Actually now I think about it I sort of wish I'd waited so you'd have to point that fact out," she said thoughtfully.

"Best ghost ever?" Mitchell offered instead, a cheeky grin on his face as he followed Annie up the stairs, still drinking the tea.

"I'm starting to get the different part. I mean back home, vampires with jobs was one thing, but considering how few people can see ghosts, I have to admit I'm confused."

Still, it seemed a nice place and if Annie was happy here, it made Mitchell feel much more relaxed. Getting suddenly transported to LA was just weird, and not being alone was all that was keeping him from freaking out completely.

"Yeah, private room like that still needs an invitation," he half smiled as he stepped inside. "And you just wanted me to try stepping forward so you could see me fall back didn't you."

"I can possibly accept that one," she conceded, with a little nod.

Raising an eyebrow she turned to face him at the mention of people not being to see ghosts. "You do remember I got solid again, right? Just after..." she trailed off. It was just after Bernie got killed, but there was no way she was bringing that up. He'd barely spoken for a week after that had happened.

She laughed at his suggestion. "Maybe a little bit," she agreed holding her fingers up, about a centimeter apart to indicate just how little. "That or try to politely remind me you needed an invitation. I was sort of hoping for a bit of awkward flailing. What can I say I get amusement from your occasional discomfort!"

Once he was inside she sat down on the edge of the bed. She really didn't to talk to someone about getting it removed, replaced with a nice big armchiar or something like she'd had back home. "You didn't happen to notice the fact it's not 2009, did you?" she asked casually, like this was a perfectly normal question. Probably not the best way to start the explanation really, but never mind.

Mitchell offered a smirk of triumph before once again addressing the strangeness of a ghost with a job.

"There's solid and then there's..." he waved his hands around vaguely. "It's a new one even for me." He remembered well the time she'd regained the ability to be seen by others. After the car crash. He swallowed hard a moment before looking back at her.

"Would you like me to awkwardly flail? I'm sure I can rummage some flailing from somewhere." He grinned before she said, well, that.

"What do you mean it's not 2009?" Now there was definite flailing. "Of course it's 2009 Annie. Did you hit your head? Ok, no, that's impossible. But even so, it's 2009. Gorden Brown is Prime Minister and Carol Vorderman's off Countdown."

"Living like a completely normal human being?" she tried, no real idea what he was trying to get at, but she supposed that was more or less what she was doing. "Normal's all a bit relative here."

"It might make me miss George a bit less, or just give me a bit of a laugh so yes please," she replied, until he actually did start geniuinely flailing of course. It was better when it wasn't as serious.

"I can go down stairs and get you todays paper if you'd like," she offered carefully, feeling a little bad now he was flailing. "It's 2006, Mitchell. We were...brought here by some higher ups or something. There are loads of people like us, people that aren't meant to be here, now or at least aren't from here or now. I mean seriously there are like Jedi's and stuff, it's mental! But ignoring the tendancy for really strange things to happen it's...it's alright. I mean I've met some really nice people and well, that's the other thing. The reason I didn't just disappear the moment I got here was because I have a purpose here, we all do. This hotel it's full of all these amazing people brought here from God knows where to, well okay it sounds like a completely cliche, but to fight the good fight and wow that sounded really wanky, didn't it? Okay let me try again. Basically we're the good guys, but there are bad guys here too. We're supposed stop them winning I guess, protect people." She paused for a moment to see just how badly he was flailing now. "Of course I generally just make tea, but for the good guys! And I'm here if any of special little talents are ever needed. So...you'll join right? You'll stay here, with me? With us? I mean come on, saving the world, it's nothing we haven't done before, right?"

Mitchell listened to the whole explanation. And blinked. He opened his mouth to try to say something, but the words seemed to get stuck so he just sipped at his tea and then blinked again.

"If it was anyone else I was speaking to," he said after a pause. "I'd ask if you were doing the fun drugs."

He shook his head, taking a bite out of the chocolate biscuit.

"Ok, so let's see if I've got this straight. We've time traveled, to LA, because of these god power things, to fight the good fight alongside fictional characters because there are bad guys running around?"

Saying it out loud made it sound even crazier.

"Are the bad guys fictional too?"

Oh dear she'd made him speechless, that probably wasn't terribly good was it?

"You're chosing to believe I haven't finally lost my mind then?" she asked, smiling slightly at him. Because let's face it she deserved a bit of a mental breakdown really.

"That's how I understand it," she confirmed. "I don't think they're all fictional though. We're not fictional and I'm pretty sure the people that are like from here aren't. I know it's a bit...out there. But vampires pretending to be policemen while trying to take the world and 80s ghosts aren't exactly normal for most people, are they?" She frowned faintly at the mention of Gilbert, she still missed him sometimes. She just hoped the men with the ropes hadn't done anything horrible to him.

"Some of them are I think, yeah. I think it's like...they're not fictional where they come from, but to other people they are. That makes sense, right?"

Mitchell laughed slightly, rubbing the back of his head a moment. "Annie, you're many things but you're not crazy. I don't think you've lost your mind. Unless we both have, which I accept is a possibility."

He let out a long, slow breath as he gradually started to get his head around the idea.

"So they're from other realities or something where they're real. Huh. That's a head trip. And hey, we're entirely normal. Just, you know, a werewolf, a vampire and a ghost who live together. That doesn't sound like the set up to a bad joke at all."

He smirked before draining the last of the mug of tea.

"So this good fight thing. This place is part of that? And they'd let me sign up?"

She wondered sometimes actually. What she'd done to Owne had made her question a few things, but it was good to know Mitchell thought her losing her mind was unlikely.

"I think it's something like that, yeah," she agreed. She laughed a little at the joke comment. "I think that'd only apply if we regularly walked into bars. But other than that, yes completely normal!"

She nodded. "Well they let me sign up and I've vouched for you, since there's the whole vampires are arseholes thing. But they actually seem to trust me, so I really don't see why they wouldn't. I think the desire to help out counts for a lot here and I mean it's not like we don't have the experience."

"One day we need to actually walk into a bar. It just needs to happen," Mtichell commented idly as he tried to get his head around all the details. LA. 2006. Fictional characters were real. It all seemed like a strange set up for a tv show. But then, who was he to talk, really.

"Vampires are arseholes," he added before making up his mind and nodding firmly. "In that case, I'm in. I mean, we tried the whole leaving everything alone thing and look how well that worked out. So we might as well get in and fight with the good guys," he grinned. "Plus I know even the idea if would piss Herrick off and you know how I feel about things like that."

Annie laughed at the suggestion. "If or when George shows up we can definitely do that," she agreed.

"I never said they weren't," she pointed out. "I happen to think one of them's okay though. Isn't there something about there always being an acception that proves the rule? That would be you."

She was pretty pleased by his choice to stay, not taht she thought he wouldn't. This was Mitchell after all, he always did the right thing, or at least as far as she knew he did. "We'll all fit in here, in this city just fine. Okay it won't be a normal human life, but well normal's overrated right?" She stood up and went over to hug him again. "And yeah I know exactly how you feel about Herrick, I'm sure he'd be horrified you've turned into such a model citizen."
