WHO: Nathan & Heidi Petrelli [if wanting to join, poke Jessi via email]
WHERE: the Hyperion
WHEN: Wednesday, June 14, 2006; night
WHAT: Regrouping.
RATING: TBD
STATUS: thread; in-progress

Staring at the list in front of him, one he had kept by hand for months now, Nathan didn't move anything more than his eyes as his gaze moved down the list for the fifth time following his most recent correction. The list was of A.I. members, both within the hotel and those who were still considered A.I. despite living elsewhere, one that reflected the damage being done to other groups out there, the cumulative efforts of the steady removal of people over months and the recent swaps that filled the voids on the good side with nothing but evil. The names were crossed out, the newer strikeouts marked with an "S", red indicating those who were now threats to the city instead of protectors, and the list was beginning to resemble a giant inkblotch.

They would regroup. If there was anything that over a year in this place had taught him, it was that the people who joined this side were all able to adapt.

But for how much longer? How much more will they take when there's barely anyone left?

Dismissing the thoughts, he reached for his cell, tossing it lightly between his hand as he debated. Need was all a matter of individual perception, but he'd reached the point where he felt others had to be having the same need, the need to prepare or try to prevent things rather than turn on a TV or walk into the lobby to find the damage already done. It was a need that had been fulfilled for over half of his time here in L.A., but wasn't being met any longer because they had no connection to the PTB. They had no Seer. After everything that had happened, the PTB would have to acknowledge they had a need for one again without enough people to keep up.

After another few long minutes, her finally stopping juggling it and made the call. It went to voicemail, as he'd suspected it would.

"Cordelia, it's Nathan. I told you I wouldn't call unless the world was ending again, but we need you back now before it does go that far. We need to know what's coming, not sit and wait for eveyone to be taken out. Just call me, please."

Ending the call with little faith that the message would be checked to be returned, he set the cellphone on the office desk and put his head in his hands.

The disappearances were hitting Heidi hard, but worse still were the fact that many of the disappearances were being replaced with completely different people. To see the face of a friend or loved one twisted into something unrepentantly evil was just about the most frightening thing that Heidi could imagine. She could only thank her lucky stars that so far, Nathan and the boys and the Claires were still alright. If something happened to them...

She could see the weight of everyone's fate was on her husband's shoulders as well. There Nathan was, his head in his hands, and Heidi felt for him. He tried so much...to be so much and do so much...in this city he had turned into the man she always knew he could be. And yet, sometimes, that man hurt much more than he had to because he took care of too many people.

She came up behind him, her fingers working on his tense back muscles. "Hi handsome." She whispered, leaning in to kiss the back of his neck. "You ok?"
