Entry tags:gul dukat, the tenth doctor

Who: Gul Dukat & The Doctor
What: Dukat finds out he is not the only alien in town.
When: Early Morning
Where: Outside a eatery
Rating: TBD
Status: Incomplete

There were a lot of disadvantages being misplaced in the past, especially for an alien that certainly didn’t look like entirely human. But one thing was vexing the gul this early morning; there were none of the morning beverages or food that he enjoyed! One of the fenders even gave him an odd look for requesting fish juice, a Cardassian favorite in the morning. He couldn’t even find some Bajoran refreshment! It was all human and that was quickly becoming old to him.

Reluctantly he chose something humans called orange juice. It wasn’t really that bad but he would have liked fish juice instead. The disheartened gul settled on a table outside of the establishment, seeing that humans were not particularly fond of his presence. “Bacon and eggs…” He muttered under his breath as he poked at the yellow substance on his plate with his fork “I can’t believe I’m considering to eat this…” With that he careful shoved it into his gray mouth.

It had been very slow for the Doctor. Not that this city was at all boring, just that he was stuck here. The TARDIS seemed to malfunctioning and he couldn't pop out whenever he wanted. Being in one place wasn't something the Doctor ever saw himself doing.

As he walked down the street a person caught his attention. At least they the people weren't forming mobs and attacking the fellow. He walked over to the table and sat down. "You aren't expecting someone, are you?" he said with a smile on his face. Although as he thought about it maybe he should have asked if the seat was taken before sitting.

Dukat arched a brow ridge at the curious fellow that inquired about the seat in front of him, that he was now occupying. The very annoyed part of him wanted to shoo him away but the charming (and very lonely) politician in him won over. His lips curved into a reserved smile, losing interest in his meal as his attention turned to the Doctor only “No I am afraid not…my social calendar seems to be whole open” He replied somewhat glumly as he took a sip of the orange juice, then set it aside disinterested in the liquid refreshment.

His crystal blues studied the male in front of him with a silent curiosity. Who was this stranger who seemed so comfortable with an alien and what did he want? The gul’s mind was already calculating even as he flashed a sociable grin at the Time Lord “Now…if I may ask …who are you?” Dukat asked rather bluntly.

"Well great," he smiled as he folded his hands under his chin. He watched as Dukat seemed to not like the orange juice. Well to each his own. The waitress noticed the new man immediately and came over to the table to ask what he wanted. He glanced over the menu then asked for pancakes and iced tea.

When she left he turned his attention back onto Dukat. "I'm the Doctor," he said smiling. "I thought you seemed lonely. And its always nice to meet a fellow space traveler."

He chuckled lightly under his breath, leaning back in his chair with the hint of mirth that sparkled in his depths “Is that obvious? Well considering I’m a non-human on a planet of mainly humans it isn’t really that surprising but I am making due to my unfortunate situation” Dukat shrugged his broad shoulders.

Catching his peculiar introduction, his interest was peaked. Who when around calling themselves ‘The Doctor’? Perhaps he was wrong to assume this man was a human, though he certainly did resemble one but so did the Betazoids and several other races from his own universe “The Doctor? That’s certainly an intriguing name… I am guessing this is a title much as mine is…oh do forgive me I have not introduced myself” Proudly he straightened his posture and flashed his ever ready sly smile “I am Gul Dukat…exiled leader of the Cardassian Union”

The Doctor laughed, "Yeah then again we can't help what oneself looks like. But in no way does it give people the right to stare." He glared over at the couple sitting across from their table. Both suddenly looked at each as if they were afraid one of them would attack. Typically human response, sometimes they could be so rude.

"Oh its not a title its my name," he smiled as his food was brought out. Boy this place was fast. He had been expecting to wait a while. "Its a pleasure to meet...did you say Cardassian Union?" He was familiar with the race.

“You call yourself …the Doctor?” One of those brow ridges that encircled his eyes lifted in an uncertain manner. It seemed a bit strange to the Cardassian but the man could call himself whatever he wanted, it was after all a free universe…well sort of.

However, the gul interest in the unique name was lost when he appeared to recognize his homeworld. Dukat leaned forward in subtle enthusiasm, eager to learn if the Doctor had actually heard of his people but he was slightly wary to know what he knew. He was hoping that he had heard of them through his travels and not through the television that people kept referencing “Yes…you’re correct…You’re familiar with my people aren’t you Doctor? Tell me what do you know?”

"Yes, afterall it is my name," he smiled as he moved to get more comfortable in his chair. The whole name thing got asked anytime he said it so it wasn't anything new.

"Well I mostly just hang around with Tret Akleen, fine chap," he smiled. He had met with the founder on several occasions but he don't this young man knew of him. That was so long go for him probably. "So Dukat how long you been a first officer?"

Dukat’s eyes widen in shock at the suggestion he had met the father of Cardassian society “You…you met Tret Akleen? You are aware how impossible that is….he died hundred of years before I was even born!” The gul was skeptical of the Time Lord’s answer but considering everything he had experienced in the last few months and in his life in the future it wasn’t the most outrageous thing he had heard.

Perhaps he had too early to quick to dismiss such a claim “Less you are much older then you appear….if so …well you certainly do look quite well for a man over five hundred years old Doctor” he remarked with a light chuckle as he again drew the juice to his lips, taking a faint sip. Dukat had to admit that orange juice wasn’t too terrible. “…off and on for thirty years though now I probably could call myself Mister President …or Emperor ….but it just doesn’t have the same ring..” He grinned impishly at the Doctor.

He slightly smiled at Dukat's reaction to the name he had just said. "Yes I did. Why is he important?" he asked knowing full well who the man was. It was just fun to ask.

"Actually I'm celebrate my 904th birthday this year. But thank you," he smiled. He always thought he looked whether young for his age. He watched as Dukat drank the orange juice. It was obvious that he disliked it. "Thirty years. Quite a feat."

"You know I might be able to find a place that serves a drink more to your liking," he stated pointing out that Dukat didn't like the orange juice.
