She didn't much like thinking about it, about how persuasive he'd been back then, how much she'd wanted to help him, wanted to believe he could achieve what he'd said he would. She'd taken the risk for him and it had backfired horribly on her. "You were persuasive. I thought you could hurt them, really hurt them and they'd let me go, thought you and me stood a chance."
More wine was needed as he talked about Cathy. Lots more wine, he really loved her, and the thought bothered Eve more than her bitchy veneer would ever let on.
"Never had to pretend with me either did you?" she asked quietly a little fearful of the answer, he knew full well she wasn't a committed little liason, and so did the partners, but they'd send her here regardless. "Never tried to make you fit somewhere you wouldn't be happy"
