Gabriel had been spending more and more of his time out. He'd eventually come to the conclusion that part of his problem was that he was feeling caged and getting out of the hotel every so often would help that. And while it had to an extent, it had also just provided him with more scenic areas for his own thoughts to plague him. Wandering through the park, Gabriel pondered to himself as he looked out over the pond that at least they provided him with something a little more serene to focus on than a glaring computer screen and something else to consider when everything else was getting to be too much.
I wonder how many ducks there really are out there. One, two, three...
But that wasn't his.
Glancing around sharply, Gabriel frowned at the gathering crowd before his eyes fell on a young man draped over the railing of the small foot bridge, looking down at a crowd of waterfowl.
Seven, eight. Hey, stop moving!
Too much caffeine, too little sleep. Gabriel shook his head out, his eyes falling on a young woman jogging past, headphones dangling from her eyes, and suddenly, a song was blaring in his head in a mental voice that was more than slightly off-key. Jerking backwards, Gabriel pressed a hand to his forehead as suddenly he was assaulted with a mixture of voices, something coming off of every person that he looked at. Eventually, he resigned himself to staring pointedly at the ground, the voices at least dulling into whispers as he pressed through the crowd and tried to find somewhere that he'd be alone.
He knew that he hadn't killed anyone lately. He would have remembered something like that.
So what the hell was happening?
