WHO: Kitty and OPEN
WHAT: Kitty's exploring LA
WHEN: May 18th, late afternoon/early evening. Nearing sundown.
WHERE: 'Net cafe
RATING: Undecided
STATUS: In progress.

This was certainly not the first time Kitty had dealt with being a stranger in another world. Parallel universes were kind of old hat to someone who was a veteran X-Man at the ripe old age of 25, so she was doing her best to learn what she could now that she was here. After buying herself a cheap set of civilian clothes and an canvas bag to put her uniform in (yes, she kept cash in the uniform- you never know!), she found herself an Internet cafe and started with the research. Nothing was standing out yet, aside from some chatter on a message board she found, but was taking with a grain of salt.

She made a quick post, then ordered herself the most sugary, syrupy coffee concoction there was available, and the most calorie-laden pastry they had available. She'd just spent God knows how long in an incorporeal state, hurtling through space in a giant bullet. Sure, she could survive without food in phased mode, but she still got majorly hungry after doing so. Probably psychological.

Hair sticking up on end, Ed turned away from the front counter with a cup filled to the brim with his favorite brew of french vanilla caffeinated goodness. He paused momentarily to sniff at the edge of the lid. The scent was familiar. It seemed to be the only thing in this place, outside of those douchenozzles he'd spotted earlier on the net, that was actually semi-familiar to him. He could handle that. Ed was a Ghostfacer. It was what he did. He would adapt. Much like a warrior, thrown into the middle of a chaotic battle. There was no hiding. It was all about survival. Instinct. Going in for the kill. And drinking coffee. That, he found, was vital.

Pulling at the bag strapped over his shoulder, Ed distractedly plopped down into the nearest chair and began to pull out the laptop that was tucked away on the inside. He got halfway through the process before realizing that he had somehow managed to seat himself at an already occupied table. If he felt sorry for it, he certainly didn't show it. Instead, Ed pushed his glassed up his nose and set his drink down onto the surface before him.

"There are a lot of tables in here. Most of them are full. I'm tired of sitting in my van all day. Do you mind?"

Kitty minimized the window she had open when someone else came near. When he showed no signs of reading over her shoulder, she relaxed a little. Still, that was kind of rude.

Retract the claws, Kitty. You're on edge, don't do anything to bring attention to yourself. Be polite and eat your danish.

"No, it's fine. I won't be too much longer anyway, go ahead," she said over her cup of coffee.

"Excellent." Ed set up his laptop and leaned back in his chair, calmly pausing to take a sip from the cup in his grasp before he connected up to the net and pinned himself straight on to the website he had intended on checking out. Ed certainly didn't look amused when he discovered that the home site for the Ghostfacers no longer existed. Where were their pictures? The uploaded videos? He had a few still lodged into his own computer, but setting up the site had been a lot of work and the fact that it was now gone certainly didn't please him upon discovering as much. Ghostfacers was gone. Hellhoundslair was still active. Weird.

"You know what I hate?" Ed started, turning to look over at the woman next to him. He really didn't care if she was concerned about conversing with him or not. He was still very much going to talk. "Hackers. Friggin' douchewads, all of them. They totally jacked my site." It was probably the damn Winchester brothers all over again. Assholes. Oh, they were so going to pay.

Kitty suppressed a cringe at that, managing to only wince for half a second at the man's complaint. She put on her Happy Tech Support Worker face.

"What kind of jacked are we talking about?" asked Kitty, closing the window she had open. "I mean, something like a DDOS attack hardly qualifies as hacking- just a bunch of script kiddies with too much time on their hands- which the types who go after individual websites usually are. You want me to have a look? I'm pretty good with this sort of thing," she offered before taking a long sip of her coffee. "You piss off some guys on 4chan or something?"

He seemed like he might be the type to get on peoples' bad sides.

Did he just inadvertently discover someone skilled in the art of tech? Fuck yes! There were so many different levels of awesome to that that Ed found he didn't know where to begin. How often did something like this happen? His site turns sour and there's someone right there, almost instantly, to help him remedy the problem. That was kind of amazing.

"I'm talking, like, completely wiped," Ed told her, sliding his laptop over so that she could see the page that was displayed. "Look. It says that the page doesn't even exist. You wanna tell me how that could happen if someone didn't hack in and delete everything that was put up there?"

At her last comment, Ed shook his head. "No way. Me and the guys at 4chan are tight."

Kitty pursed her lips in concentration as she looked at the screen. "It's possible they just redirected your URL to nowhere," she'd done that a couple times to godhatesmutants.com herself- that was always a good pick-me-up when she was feeling down about something.

"Have you logged into your web host? The data still might be there, just not connected to the address."
