He chose to let the married remark go, considering the only thing he had was a wry response about a post-honeymoon glow. While he'd made it clear that he was happy with his marriage, he didn't feel it necessary to start taking that kind of a shot yet. They had abruptly interrupted history that called for initial leeway anyway. But he knew where he'd drawn the line too.
"Coffee, black," he told the waiter and opened his mouth to order but she was already taking care of it. His expression remained carefully neutral with the exception of an arched eyebrow as he watched her. When the waiter asked if there was anything else, he shook his head, leaning back in his seat.
"They give second chances when they feel like they can gain something from it," he replied, crossing his arms over his chest. During his tenure as CEO, they'd watched him like a hawk. One foot out of line and he had a liason on his case. He'd seen a lot of that damn liason. "I try not to. A mind in the past isn't much help for the present or future."
