He was starting to believe that the universe had something against him being married. Only a few days after returning home, he'd been beaten by a psychotic clown. Now his ex had returned for the other side. Initally the entire thing had been one hell of a blow but given a night to adjust, he was steady on his feet again.
He knew it wasn't just going to be a simple catch up lunch. People like them didn't meet face to face and idly chat about the weather and the news.
A few minutes after noon, he passed through the door, sliding his sunglasses up on top of his head. It took a moment for his eyes to adjust and he spotted Eve by the window. He drew in a deep breath before making his way over, throwing the suit jacket over the back of the chair and sitting down.
"You look the same as I last remember seeing you," he stated conversationally.
