He wasn't sure how long he had been out, but when he finally came to his body still throbbed with a dull ache. Luckily, that seemed to be the only lasting repercussion of Elle's attack...but it was enough. A quick look around confirmed what he already knew to be the case - both girls were gone. He had missed his chance...again.
As he got back up to his feet he thought about Elle. He hadn't been exactly sure what he was going to do with her after all of this, but she had just made his list, for sure. The next time they crossed paths, it wouldn't be pretty for her. He tried to take pleasure in this fact, but he was too distracted with the knowledge that he had once again had Claire in his grasp, only to not make the kill. Of course, it wasn't over, but he had now lost the element of surprise. She would know he was coming for her now...she would have time to prepare, perhaps find help.
Still, this city had brought the two of them together once already, and for some reason he felt confident it would again. Taking one last look around, Sylar dusted himself off and took off into the night. It was time to begin planning.
