Buffy was happy to be sporting a pair of black leather pants, courtesy of Faith. Well, not like they were from Faith with a blessing... More specifically, she'd told Faith she was gonna steal the pants, and then (as not to be a liar!) did it. It was by no means an aggressive action to lead to a fight. It was actually a small way of reaching out and joking around. Plus? She really liked her pants. Girl had good taste. And Buffy's first paycheck hadn't arrived yet. Stealing, borrowing - it was all fair game, no? (And if you say 'no' be advised that Buffy is armed and dangerous.)
That's right, Buffy was out on patrol - a makeshift stake twirling in her hand. When she'd been about to leave, she'd noticed Jack and Jared, and invited them both along. She was more familiar with Jack, but she'd talked with Jared on the boards a few times. Both seemed like good people. She'd told herself that patrolling by herself was a habit she needed to break and was only too happy to have some companions.
It was maybe a little weird that Jared was there, she wasn't sure if he was okay with possibly staking a vampire from 'this world' knowing that they were totally evil and unlike him. Not unfamiliar to patrolling with vampires, Buffy thought briefly of both Angel and Spike. They used to get flack from fellow vampires. Hopefully Jared wouldn't mind.
The group of them were walking away from The Hyperion, with no set destination.
Buffy had veered a bit ahead of the two guys. In the dark you could hardly see them. She felt herself being rushed, suddenly, against the wall of a building. With the surprise, Buffy had let go of her stake and it rolled away on the pavement. Yellow vampire eyes glowed in the dark from above her. A vampire had picked her as an easy target. And that hurt her self-esteem! "Man, you guys always underestimate the girls," scoffed Buffy, annoyed to be taken as a complete non-threat on this vampire's radar.
The vampire shook their hair forward and it was revealed to be long and curly. "Only 'cause I know what wimps girls are. I was one, until I was saved."
"Saved by Jesus? That seems a little counterproductive to your new position of evil in life," Buffy snarked back. This vampire wasn't a real threat, but it was fun to let her think she was. "Why don't you let me go and you can repent to Jesus real fast before he notices you've strayed from his flock?"
"Saved by my sire, you worthless human," the vampire hissed as a return answer.
She was letting Jack and Jared get close from behind the vamp, while she was distracting her. She figured it wouldn't be good teamwork if she took the vampire out on her own when it wasn't even a real threat.
"Well listen, I just gave blood last week and, well, to be honest - I think they took all the good stuff. You probably shouldn't bother with me."
