WHO: Ben Braeden, X-23 WHERE: sidewalk/street in front of Winchester & co house WHEN: Saturday, April 29, 2006; afternoon WHAT: Ben is bummed. D: RATING: TBD STATUS: thread; in-progress
For most of his time in LA until recently, Ben had found himself with the social equivalent of an angel and a demon on each shoulder, one his God-appointed guardian and friend and the other the person – or 'person', since she was a demon – who'd been the closest to a best friend he'd ever had. That had changed, first with all the stuff with Ruby and now with the fact Eve was gone. She hadn't been brought here by God, so it was the stupid Powers' fault she was gone. He half-wondered if God would send another angel to look over him, and if She didn't, if the lack of a new one somehow meant something bad, like he was no longer 'important'.
Sitting on the curb outside the house with a game in hand, he still wasn't playing it, mostly just sitting there thinking child-shaped thoughts about the gamut from things that fell into the 'sucks' column lately to whether he wanted to go in the house and sneak some pie, or stay out here and miss Eve where no one would see him be sad.
He actually wasn't supposed to be outside the boundary without Eve, but one, she wasn't there to be watching over him and lately, he'd taken to unreasonably disliking the protection barrier because it was a reminder of Ruby, and as upset as he was at her, it didn't stop him missing the time when things hadn't sucked so much and she'd been his friend.
