WHO: Ben Braeden, Sam Winchester WHERE: various! WHEN: Monday, April 17, 2006; after this WHAT: Another candy run with bonus awkward talks! RATING: TBD STATUS: thread; in-progress
When his uncle had offered to take him for Candy, Ben had been surprised. A lot surprised, actually. Having resigned himself to the idea that Sam was never home anymore between work and being with Ruby, Sam and Ruby had been – and probably still were – sexing it up and lying to everyone, Castiel had been getting royally screwed even if he didn't want to admit it or just didn't know they way he said he'd know, Ben had figured that he just wasn't going to have the family he'd wanted so bad when he'd realized Dean was going to be his dad. He was, as most kids tended to be, resentful of the lying and kiding, as well as jealous and not ever going to admit it, because that was his once best friend and his uncle and all they wanted was each other. It was why Ben happily threw himself into the flurry of stuff the rest of his family (including Claire) came up with to go and do, as it meant not having to think about how much the whole thing sucked.
But he couldn't resist time spent with Sam despite that resentment and child-bitterness, because at the end of the day, Ben wanted an uncle, really, really bad, but only if that uncle was Sam.
When Sam's truck came into sight on the street, Ben was already near the end of the driveway and barely waited for Sam to come to a complete stop before running up to the truck.
