Who: Kennedy & Kumiko What: A Slayer's dreams are said to be prophetic on occasion Where: Her Bedroom When: Late Night- backdated slightly to the 30th Rating: High Status: complete
Kennedy hadn't been sleeping, too many things to focus on, the Dracu Vamps Priority in her mind, the vampires without the power that were still very much a threat, some new hunter gangs and lone idiots out hunting with not a clue of what they were dealing with. She'd come from a meeting with a guy claiming to have known about AI and have a gang that were actually doing some good. Kennedy had determined that they were and was happy to let him continue to do so, so she'd come home pleased.
But still the Slayer couldn't switch off her mind enough to sleep right away. She figured it was about three when she finally drifted off, but by that point knew if she checked to be sure, she would be wide awake all over again.
It was an uneasy sleep but it was a sleep, and eventually came the dreams. One of herself dancing with Scarlett O Hara wearing a big old fancy Civil War ballgown with both Rhett and Ashley glaring at her, she always did like that dream.
But soon the dream changed, the ballroom became something else.
Something Kennedy knew instinctivly wasn't right.
A giggle filled the now dark and empty ballroom, echoing and bouncing off the walls. "Sleep little Slayer, don't say a word," the sing song voice was next, as Kumiko skipped into view.
"Momma's gonna buy you a mockingbird."
This little Slayer interested her more than the others. The lover of the Witch. Her Witch. A fellow student of Sega Vasuki, her goddess.
"Want to dance little Slayer?"
Kennedy knew about magic and what damage it could do. She'd watched Willow so consumed with guilt over moving on from Tara that she'd turned into the woman's killer. And she knew this was magic. The bitch was in her dreams.
"I don't think I do. You're not as good looking as Vivian Leigh" she told Kumiko coldly. "Something you wanted, cause really that was a particular favourite dream of mine"
Kumiko took a few steps closer, almost twirling as she moved, lightly on her toes like a dancer.
"What do you see as happening here? The Queen is gone and we already broke the Rogue once. Little Bratty Slayer, all alone."
her face took on a look of twisted sympathy as she trailed a hand through the younger mortal's hair.
"They can't save you, you know that don't you? The little Champion boy and all his court. Peroxide wonder or the boy king. The League of supposed Justice or the team of flying rodents. All will come crashing, crashing down. This world will be ours and no one will stop us."
She leaned forward, placing a faintest ghost of a kiss over Kennedy's lips.
"So the question is, what will become of you?"
Kennedy hadn't asked to be saved. Not by anyone. What would happen is they would kill the bitch. But right here and right now she was in Kennedy's dreams.
"Stop it" she hissed as the woman kissed her, it was just for a second but dammed if she couldn't feel the power behind it. And she had no right. None.
"Already got a goddess thanks. Don't need some crazy ass vampire to make up numbers"
And yet...
It was the power that got to her. That power like Willow had. And Kennedy wondered. But she had to be careful. Very very careful.
"I'm a Slayer so, thats what'll become of me. Eventually one of you will get the jump on me and I'll die. I know how the story goes. And I'm one of many now. You like to think you can kill all of us. You can't."
Kumiko giggled again, a twisted girly sound as she stepped back, head tilted slightly as she watched the little Slayer.
"You speak of the witch and yet she is not here. You're all alone. Doesn't have to be that way though."
The truth was she liked this little Slayer. And well, numbers had to be made up since Toru's unfortunate passing.
"You'll fight, you'll die and you think that'll be the end. Silly mortal perspectives. So tell me, little girl. How do you feel about eternal life?"
Okay now THAT had been unexpected. But could be useable. If she played it right.
"Alone...I suppose I..."
She turned her head away, knowing it was a dream, knowing Kumiko had power here as well as she did.
"You'd just get bored of me. Find someone else, someone better, or you'd keep me protected, never let me get involved, Thats what she did. Willow. Didn't want me hurt. Is that what you want Kumiko?"
She turned back toward the vampire, her eyes unsure.
"How do I know you won't trick me?"
Another, delighted laugh. "You don't dear, and that's sort of the point."
She leaned in close. Were this real and were she alive, Kennedy would feel her breath over her lips.
"Take the chance, go into the unknown. I can offer you forever little Slayer, a Slayer vampire at my side. I could turn you into the greatest work of art the world has ever known. All will tremble at your name and the Witch will regret ever sending you away."
A chair appeared, luxurious red velvet and Kumiko lounged back in it comfortably.
"You could be magnificent you know. A creature truly worthy of darkness."
It was lies, but it sounded good. Kumiko didn't know her strength. Didn't know her heart. Kennedy was relying on it. She moved at a slow pace, still hesitant toward the chair.
"And in return" she asked, dropping to sit at the side of it and gazing up at the vampire. "In return I'd have to do something for you, thats how these things work isn't it. You'll protect me, keep me alive when you do...whatever your doing. But what would you want from me"
Her hand ran along the vampires leg, a dream yes, but her dream, she could control it. "I waited for so long you know, to become the Slayer, Like Buffy, Like Faith...can you give me that?"
Alive, dead, Slayer, vampire. All such minor details. Such little things that could be dealt with later. Much later. Kumiko merely laughed, a lighter, delighted sound.
"Haven't you figured it out yet?" Her voice was a low purr, that would send a shiver up the spine of anyone listening, like listening to a tiger purr after a kill.
"I can do anything I want. Give you whatever I choose to. It's all in my power you know. Anything."
Kennedy sighed, truth was that purr did make her shiver. There was a danger to it any Slayer knew at the deepest core of themselves. And she was trained by the same person that trained Willow. She could do anything.
"Alright then tell me where to find you. Show me where to go and I'm yours. Keep me safe and I'm yours"
Kumiko leaned in, her lips brushing over Kennedy's ear. "Just think of me, focus on me and I'll come to you. Sweet dreams little Slayer"
