Who: Solidus and OPEN What: Solidus goes hunting Where: The streets of L.A. When: Evening of March 16th Rating: High, for violence Status: In progress
Solidus readied his swords and his personal firearm, holstering them beside his suit. That battle a while ago had been a welcome challenge, but it wasn't nearly as challenging as he was expecting. That was saying a lot, considering some of the opponents were non-human entities the likes of which Solidus had never seen. And now it was back to vampire hunting. But this was more than just protecting the populace. The truth was, he needed to fight. It was what he'd been bred for, trained for, and made him satisfied in life. Without it, he was bored and restless. Managing politics while he had been the President had been a nice diversion, but now that that was over with, he was a soldier through and through. Whether that was fighting for the freedom of the United States, or defending a helpless population from vampires, it made no difference. It was the fight that mattered, not the cause.
It was time to go hunting.
One of the facts he hadn't shared with the populace: the machine to recharge his suit had come with him. He had discovered the device and plenty of munitions nearby at an abandoned building, shortly after his arrival. Which meant he had a near limitless power source in L.A., to fight in as many battles as he pleased. There was no danger of his suit running out of energy. The missiles were a trickier subject. But through some connections to the military, and some less-than-reputable arms dealers, he'd gotten a hold on ones he could adapt for the snake arms to fire. He'd had to extort some people for the money to buy these weapons, but whoever said a good deed came cheaply?
Extortion or not, it means a lot of vampires were dead at the end of the day.
It didn't take him long to find his quarry. Outside a shop, a group of vampires obviously not expecting an attack. Unfortunately their confidence was about to backfire. One of the advantages of the power suit - he could move stealthily, leap from tall heights far beyond a human's range and land safely, and use the snake arms to sling himself over vast distances.
Solidus activated his face plate and bulked up using the artificial muscles. He attacked them without a flicker of remorse. He had learned by now that these were soulless monsters unworthy of mercy, and that their lives didn't warrant the slightest bit of consideration. The vampires tried to mount an attack, but the suit made him invincible to normal attacks. It would take a high frequency blade or anti-tank weapon to pierce through the armor, and the vampires seemed to have left their blades at home. Pity for them. The only exception was if they attacked his head, and even that wouldn't stop him. The adrenaline from the battle along with the artificial muscles powering him was such that he could move every bit as fast as them. He was confident by the time the dust cleared, there would be one less pack of vampires. This was his standard method of operation. Unlike others here, he didn't patrol just one area. Instead he cleared one area of vampires, then moved on to another.
The vampires reacted quickly to his appearance, he would give them that. He decapitated one without a hint of remorse, slicing first through his arms and then through his neck. He fired missiles at another, bursting the chest open to expose his inner organs. The vampire howled in pain, and that was enough of a distraction for Solidus to do him in with a swipe of his blade. The others quickly rallied to mount a defense, or else secure an escape route, but Solidus wasn't going to let them off that easily. Scattering them with an impressive display of force, he pounced on the loners still standing. Some he crippled with his bare hands, savagely breaking their necks and crushing their skulls enough to disorient them, blinding them by driving his thumbs through their eyes, then slicing through their skulls with one of his swords. Ordinarily it would have been a stupid move on anyone's part, letting go of his swords, but Solidus knew he could react faster than ordinary humans. Besides, it was part of the challenge. He wanted to test the limits of the suit, and his skills.
It took a few moments for the vampires to gather themselves, while he was mangling the beaten vampires with his hands. Some tried to take advantage of the moment, but he kicked them away with a savage kick to the chest. Having his satisfaction at the moment, he switched back to his blades before they could overwhelm him. He twirled his blades in a showing off motion, as if to say, "Bring me everything you've got." The vampires, perhaps not wanting the shame of being scared away by a mere human, easily took him up on his offer.
