Who: Nymphadora Tonks and Heather Mason What: What to do when your husband decides he wants to eat you. When: Last night Where: The Winchester House Status/Rating: Incomplete/TBD
It was just about the worst aparation job she'd ever done on herself and when Tonks stumbled onto the residential street she considered it a miracle that she'd not splinched either herself or her son. That she'd managed to apparate at all was nothing short of a miracle. It wasn't as if she went around practicing how to disappear while holding a baby and forcing a door shut with only her shoulder and an angry werewolf trying to bash through from the other side. She knew that as soon as they'd vanished the door had likely caved through and that, among many other things, were going to require an overhaul in the coming week. Her housework spells were going to get quite the workout.
Tonks hadn't splinched herself, but she was sure she very nearly looked like she had. Catching a glimpse of herself in a window pane as she hurried up the front steps of the Winchester home she could tell that she honestly did look like she'd just seen a ghost. Or the unexpected transformation of her husband into a creature that wanted to eat her. Her face was pale, still scared, and framed by black hair that didn't help the effect to any extent. She barely recognized herself.
She hesitated before knocking on the door. It was late, she had a baby, and she certainly hadn't done the polite thing and called ahead. She'd had time to do two things before aparating out of the Weir, and those had been warning Hermione and Scorpius. The patroni had been nearly see through and she could only hope they'd made it through. Her scent filtered throughout the apartment would only occupy Remus for so long before he decided to explore the rest of the building. Appearing on Heather's street had been done out of pure instinct and adrenaline as she'd forced herself to concentrate on getting out of the building before the wolf pushed through the door. Tonks simply hadn't been able to think of anywhere else to go. Where were you supposed to go when your husband turned into a werewolf?
Finally Tonks knocked heavily on the door, realising that she hadn't brought a thing with her besides her wand and she could tell that Cian was getting uncomfortable in the chilly air. "I almost get you killed and now I'm going to freeze you to death," she said, holding him closer before reaching up to knock again. "Brilliant night."
