There, really, was no other explanation for this turn of events. The Senior Partners had discovered her involvement in protecting Kathy McAvera and had decided to punish her by sending her on this little mission.
Megatron. She was supposed to seek out Megatron.
Charlie had grown up in the 1980's. Granted she was chased by government agents for a few years there, and lived the last couple on the run, but she knew pop culture from her childhood. And Megatron was one of those names you simply didn't forget. It ranked up there with Scooby Doo and He-Man.
Except apparently here, he wasn't a cartoon. He wasn't even a robot. No, according to his file - sent directly to her from the Senior Partners - he was human. Oh, granted, he had a few extras, although she wasn't quite sure what they were. She just knew that he was human, he had abilities, and he was in L.A.
Oh yeah. And she was supposed to approach him and convince him to work with Wolfram & Hart.
"This has to be some kind of punishment. He's going to flatten me," Charlie muttered as she steered her motorcycle down Sunset Boulevard. According to the directions she'd been given, she was supposed to take a right at the upcoming intersection. After that, she simply had an address. She didn't know if it was where he was staying, or simply where he'd be at this particular moment in time. Charlie didn't know much of anything except she needed to find him. Because, while facing off with Megatron wasn't high on her list of things to do, pissing off the Senior Partners was definitely something she never wanted to do.
Finding the address, as it turned out, was fairly easy. The roar of the bike fell silent as she parked it neatly in between two cars. Stepping off, she pulled off her helment and shook out her short, blond locks. Charlie continued to look around, not seeing her target just yet but knowing he had to be nearby. With any luck, he wouldn't be on some kind of violent rampage. Or, at the very least, his abilities wouldn't include being fireproof. Then, maybe, she'd stand some kind of chance.
