In less than a week, Helena would be starting her new job at a private school. One of the main reasons why she'd be teaching there was to look after Bruce's kid. His kid. Jesus. That was still hard to get used to, even a couple weeks later after learning about it; she was beginning to think she'd never fully comprehend it.
Sure, he had had a son with Talia, but for whatever reason, this was weirder than that. Maybe it was because of how Terry came to be?
She couldn't help but wonder what it had been like for him to learn that he had a son.... Hell, she even wondered what it would be like for her to learn that she had a child. Though due to her highly unsuccessful attempts at love and dating, she doubted that sort of situation would ever arise, which both comforted her and disturbed her. Realistically, she'd probably be the last of the Bertinelli's, but perhaps the world would be a better place because of that fact? The Bertinelli's name was forge in blood that was not their own.
Momentarily purging all thoughts of illegitimate children, dying bloodlines and murder from her mind, Helena snapped herself out of her silent reverie and continued to sip on her cappuccino. She had found a quaint little bistro a little ways outside of the city, near the infamous Venice Beach. It was close enough for her to get back to the city in a relatively short amount of time and far enough away for her to find some seclusion away from the hustle and bustle the city afforded her.
It was still a bit sunny, but twilight was upon them. The sky was gradually turning that garish purple-gray it turned, just before the sun began setting in the West. When the night fell, she'd be back in the city to go on patrol.
