The Cardassian & The Saint
Who: Dukat & Simon Templar
What: Dukat saying hello to a new friend
When: Early afternoon
Where: A street
Rating: TBD

Dukat had waked that morning in a fairly good mood, which in itself was quite a surprise considering how things were going in his life currently. He picked out a finely tailored suit outfit, laying it out on his bed as the Cardassian disappeared in the bathroom for his shower. Finished he stepped out with the towel wrapped around his narrow waist, his eyes and ashen fingers studying the clothing. Carefully he lifted the trousers and slid his legs in one at a time before fastening them. The gul stood for a moment appraising how the pants fit on him, they weren’t too tight around his waist nor did they feel too loose and the black shade did show off his sinewy frame quite well. Pleased with his pants, he set to work dressing himself in his undershirt then his buttoned up shirt that he left loose at the top by unbuttoning a few buttons and jacket. Finally sliding his feet into his shoes.

Dressed and haired combed, he lifted his long raven colored coat and walked out of the center onto the street. It was a surprisingly pleasant day though a chill still lingered in the air that made the Cardassian shiver but he was tired of spending all his time in an apartment. He was after all the leader of an entire people and the pain in the backside of the Federation or at least one African-American Captain of a certain space station he couldn’t just stay indoors. Dukat dropped his hands into his coat, pulling out a pair of gloves and was pulling them on his silvery hued hands when his pale eyes caught sight of a familiar face some distance away. It was that intelligent conversationalist Simon that he had encountered a few times on the boards, he recalled he was keen on calling him terms of endearment that made chuckle. Swiftly he quickened his pace to catch up with Simon, dropping a powerful hand on his shoulder “Simon! What a pleasant surprise to see you” he said with his best charming smile accompanying his words.

Simon was in the act of lighting his every-15-minutes-like-clockwork cigarette when the hand descended upon him, enough of a startle to put him momentarily on-guard, thumb slipping off the striker of his lighter to free his fingers to draw his knife if needed.

Which it wasn't, as he found in the same instant, turning toward the owner of the hand and lighting up with his own best charming smile. "Why, hello there, sweetness!" Laughter sparkled in his eyes as he ran his glance over Dukat. "It's always a pleasure to run into the owner of such a very magnificent headpiece."

Dukat laughed at the term of the endearment that Simon used, clearly the man recalled he preferred that one. He wasn’t too fond of buttercup to be perfectly honest. Sweetness implied all the things that the ex-Prefect of Bajor wanted people to think, that he was sweet and kind though most had the opinion that he was far from those adjectives.

However, what really caught him off-guard was the word ‘headpiece.’ He offered him a very curious look as he reached up, as if by instinct, to touch his forehead. His nimble fingers lightly touched the spoon design in the middle of his skull while he stared at Simon with those pale eyes wide. Once the surprise wore off and realization set in he threw his head back and laughed but much louder then the first. “I thank you for the compliment Simon but I’m afraid you’re mistaken about my ‘headpiece.’ It is all me but I can see why you could mistake its design” he corrected him with a pleasant smile.

The Saint was of a nature to tease everyone from his closest friends and co-conspirators to his deadliest enemies; this stemmed from an inherent understanding of how utterly, inherently ludicrous is the world and all that's in it, but was generally delivered with at least the appearance of good humour. He wasn't sure, yet, where exactly Dukat fit into that range of acquaintances, but everyone started out somewhere toward the friendly end; the sparkle of amusement in Simon's eyes was utterly innocent and well-meaning despite the purposeful ambiguity of his words as he tapped the brim of his hat (an affectation he had yet to lose, Kennedy be damned) and nodded at the other. "I'm terribly sorry, old dear."

He lit the cigarette, then, positioning himself downwind so as not to bother Dukat should he care one way or the other about the smoke (Simon certainly didn't, but there was no need to antagonize anyone needlessly over something as simple as tobacco). "And what brings you out on this lovely afternoon? Taking your daily constitutional or something?"

The Cardassian found that he was rather taken by the amiable human though it had started slightly rocky but he had to admit he quite liked him just speaking to him on the boards. Simon had made the gul feel he truly wasn’t the bad man everybody labeled and that he understood the complicated status of gray areas in morality. Plus, like Jack, he made his ego feel massive though it was already brimming in size and gave him respect in the form of a tipped hat. To return his gesture Dukat inclined his neck in a kind of bow, acknowledging his kindness. He had a velvety sounding voice as he spoke, some would say the true voice of a leader while others would say it was one of a manipulative liar but like Simon had said it was all a manner of perception.

“Oh no need for apologies Simon” he replied lifting a hand to wave it away dismissively. Silently he took note of the human’s movement to secure the smoke from getting in his direction, that alone earned him a silent smile of gratitude. He cocked his head to one side, lightly stretching those scaled and ridged neck muscles putting emphasis on the skin connecting the lower part of his ear to his broad shoulders that often had the look of a cobra’s hood. His fingers were entwined in front of him giving him a humbled posture “Yes something like that…I never realized how dull it is to be spending my days in an apartment. There is only so much one man can take” he said allowing a playfully sad expression.

"I'd suggest you put a little excitement in your life by robbing a bank or something, but they'd probably finger you quite well in a line-up," Simon said blithely.

Dukat laughed vociferously, clapping a hand down on Simon’s shoulder in a very subtle sign of affection though clearly showed he was fond of the bantering Englishman “I do quite stand out in a crowd don’t I? There goes my criminal career before it has even begun!…Oh well.” he bantered back playfully as he allowed his arm to dangle loosely over one of his shoulders. Once again he grinned at him “Though a little excitement certainly does sound good considering..”
