He should have known, he really should have. He realized that the instant the dirt flew into his eyes, and even though he could no longer see her he knew she must be smiling at his idiocy. It was the story of his life, really...Remy was always a sucker for a pretty lady, and here was another time it had come back to bite him.
He quickly wiped the dirt from his eyes, and regained his sight just in time to see her rushing towards him with a glowing blade. He put up his arms, defensively. She was coming at him fast and furious, forcing him to step back in retreat as her mad slashes tore his jacket to ribbons. The look on her face told him she was done playing for the moment.
"You know I don't mind dese little spats, chere" he said through gritted teeth,"but I really liked dis jacket." As he spoke, he tore the jacket off (it certainly wasn't worth saving at this point) and threw it over her head. He held on to one of the sleeves, and used the grip to spin the now caught-up Psylocke around, before letting her go and sending her bundled-up form flying into a nearby bush. He knew this would only buy him a few seconds, so he reached for his deck of cards...
"Ah, hell."
His cards were all still in the pockets of his jacket - the same jacket he had just thrown into the bushes with Elisabeth.
