"We're leaving in ten minutes!" Heidi called over the sounds of Monty and Simon's shouting and the powdery Splats of the snowballs they were hurling at eachother and anyone else who happened to pass through the Hyperion's front gates. She'd been zipping between the boys and her car for the last half hour, prepping this and that, and successfully sneaking an industrial-sized picnic basket into the trunk(The handle had to be bent, but it adhered to the deformity with as much dignity as an inanimate object could.).
Heidi hadn't announced her intention to make theft of the Petrelli clan, so much as burst into whatever room each family memeber had been occupying half an hour earlier, instructing them to make themselves presentable in a manner that incorporated some form of coat. It was unecessary in some cases, thanks to the snow outside and the wardrobe choices it had inspired, but she felt a timely warning was fair as bustling someone out in the cold--no matter how pleasant--might put a shiver on the evening, and she wanted everyone to start the New Year toasty.
With the car packed, and only the passengers missing, she took a moment to stand in the courtyard, clear of Monty and Simon's crossfire. Snow was one of the things she missed the most, and every temperate December day had left her longing for New York's inhospitable flurries. She even missed having chapped lips and occasionally waking up early after a singularly snowy night to recover the drive that was always shoveled clear by 7AM(Thanks to the service Nathan employed during the winter), to inspire her husband to take the day off. Heidi closed her eyes, and drew up the images of past (and, with consideration for the date, future.) snow days. Snowball fights, snow men, sloppy snow angels and snow battle grounds where Nathan and Peter or Simon and Monty had shoved a fistfull of ice down one or the other's clothing and deteriorated into wrestling.
She took a deep breath of crisp air, let it out, and was working on her second when the crunch of snow behind her announced the arrival of another Petrelli.
