Under normal circumstances, a Petrelli in the kitchen was a bad thing, but Angela Petrelli was actually a decent cook when she put enough effort into it and had a specific recipe to follow. Considering cakes were just a matter of mixing the pre-packed mixture with the proper amount of water, oil, and eggs and watching to make sure it didn't burn, she actually managed to get through the baking regime with only a slight amount of charring around the edges. And that was easily removed with a paring knife and covered with frosting. By the time she had gotten done, they had three (yes, three. After Sarah's comment, she had stopped to consider exactly how many people the hotel housed and had decided that maybe having a few extra was a good idea.) presentable, if not nice, cakes.
Courtesy of Fred, the kitchen and dining area were decked out in balloons and streamer that made the area look much more festive than it usually did. There was a selection of music waiting for after they had surprised him and had settled into the swing of things. There was a small collection of presents on the table next to the cakes, Angela's among them. She wasn't sure exactly who had gotten the others, but the stack had grown since she had sat hers down there in order to go and make sure that the lobby was still clear of any signs of the youngest Petrelli.
Claire had done her job well, and Angela could definitely appreciate it. Now, she just had to have someone go and retrieve them now that everything was ready. "All right," Angela said with a smile as she looked over at Sarah with a bright smile. "I think that does it. Think you can go and get the birthday boy?"
