Her mind was racing. Her heart was pounding so hard that she was sure it would bust out of her chest at any moment. Her breathing was quick and rapid.
Simply put, Jean Grey was panic-stricken.
Darkened eyes were squeezed tightly shut, while she tried to regain composure over herself (both physically and mentally). Everything was a blur, everything here wasn't right. She wasn't right. She had killed--no, she had eviscerated the love of her life, as well as her own mentor. And that wasn't even counting all of those nameless faces she had ripped apart on that island... and wait--hadn't she joined them?
"Save me."
"I love you."
Those were the final words spoken in her last moments, and Logan had told her that he loved her. There had been a sharp, jabbing pain, a sense of peace at long last... and then darkness. Nothingness. Then she appeared here, as if nothing happened. As if she had imagined it all, but she knew that was a lie. She knew of the terrible truth and no matter how hard she tried to forget, nothing would erase those horrible memories from her mind.
Once she had calmed down (but only slightly), Jean reopened her eyes again to survey her surroundings. She had been standing on an unfamiliar street corner, while the passersby barely paid her any mind, if at all even. A little girl had stopped to gaze upon the woman with a fiery mane of red hair. However, her mother was quick to pull her away from the strange woman in the equally strange-looking attire. Jean couldn't fault the mother, she wouldn't want her child coming close to a person like her. She was a monster.
Instead of remaining where she was, she decided to start moving down the sidewalk towards... Well, she wasn't quite sure where she was going exactly, she just knew she had better keep moving. Part of her was sorely tempted to use her telepathic abilities to see if she could sense if anyone she knew she was close by, but something told her that probably wouldn't be possible. Not here.
