WHO: John Winchester & Mary Campbell WHERE: the Winchester & co. apartment WHEN: Friday, November 11; evening [backdated] WHAT: Having a talk RATING: TBD STATUS: thread; in-progress
With his intent to be around for the evening so Mary could easily find him, once she found the note he had left her and came looking for him, John busied himself with the next stage of the house hunting he'd been up to today, taking the perused newspapers and real estate brochures and sorting out possible properties from those he'd taken a look at today from the outside, in doing a preliminary inspection of their locations. Rent, preferably, lease okay too, but buy not exactly the option yet, not because he had no intention of staying, but because he couldn't predict if they would all need to move again for any reason. It was harder, to avoid danger, when everyone was trapped in a city, and with people continually arriving, who knew what space they'd need next.
Stacked neatly around him were the half-sorted possibilities, adding to them as he organized them in a system that made sense to him, even though he knew they'd soon be scattered with the others looking through them. Finding a house with as many bedrooms as were necessary was a big feat, but finding them in areas that wouldn't immediately announce who they were to anyone curious was even tougher. Still, he had what he hoped was a reasonable selection to give everyone a chance to weigh in on, from concerns about room sizes and utilities to safety measures and location.
Quiet steps behind him caught his attention and he put down the brochures he'd been holding, turning on the sofa to face the person who entered the room.
Mary.
Despite the cramped quarters, they had managed to do a very good job of avoiding each other, John not catching more than a blonde head moving around a corner, so he suspected the cagey behavior had been mutual. Perhaps it would have been better to see more of her before this, because seeing her standing there, like a memory pulled straight from his head, left him without the words to greet her.
