The little boy wasn't lying when he said his mother was out. Usually he would pretend she was and lure social workers in so Kayako could finish them off, but this was one of those rare times where he didn't have a single clue where she was. He tried earlier to sense his father in the house, but the stifling amount of rage Toshio once felt was no longer there. The small child put it down to them being out somewhere else.
He found his first victim out of many to come over the computer. After haunting American apartments for a while, he had learned the basic English needed to lure the girl to the apartment. Scattered on the coffee table in front of him were various childish drawings of him and his cat, Mar, who was skulking around the the place. Toshio himself was seated on the couch, staring blankly at the French sliding door onto the balcony as he waited for her to arrive, drumming his tiny fingers on his bandaged knees.
