WHO: Jaina Solo and Mara Jade Skywalker WHAT: A meeting between Master and former Padawan. WHEN: {BACKDATED} October 21; 2PM WHERE: Griffith Park RATING: TBD STATUS: In Progress
As two o'clock approached, one by one the various clocks above the churches throughout the city began to chime to announce the change in the hour. It was a symphony of bells, a chorus of noise that wasn't necessarily pleasant to behold but was certainly attention-getting. It was also the only sound that Jaina allowed herself to focus on as she stepped beyond the gates of Griffith Park and moved toward an available nearby bench.
She deliberately ignored the laughter coming from the nearby children, or the barking of the various dogs. The low lull of families out enjoying the afternoon was lost on her. She wouldn't, couldn't, listen to any of it. It was too hard, too much of a reminder of how things had once been for her and her own family.
And how, thanks to Caedus, they'd never be that way again.
It wasn't easy, thinking about her brother and the things he'd done. The things she could remember him doing, at least. It was also baffling since she did have so many blank spots. She couldn't figure out why it had happened, why he had fallen. Making a mental note to contact Tenel Ka, perhaps, for a discussion about just that subject, Jaina re-focused her attention on the here and now.
Truth be told, she was a bit nervous about seeing her aunt again, too. Jaina knew that she'd been intentionally avoiding this meeting with her Master, for a great many reasons. Part of it was the difference in time that had lapsed between them. Part of it was the knowledge that Mara had died and Jaina, too caught up in her own issues, hadn't been able to help her because she, too, had been killed.
Then there was the simple fact that Mara Skywalker knew Jaina perhaps better than anyone else in the galaxy, save Jagged Fel, and that meant that she was going to be able to tell what Jaina was planning on doing... and might very well try to stop her.
A muffled sigh, and she shifted a bit on the bench so her lightsaber wasn't in plain view of those passing her by. The last thing she wanted was a group of 'fans' following her around. It was in part why she avoided really acknowledging any of them and instead kept her gaze on the entrance to the park, waiting for Mara to arrive.
