Lindsey hated Halloween but when important clients, demons of all things, sent invites out to their party, the CEO had to suck it up and play his part. It was ridiculous that a demon even was throwing a costume ball, considering most of the supernatural community avoided the day like the plague. But according to his client, somewhere in his endless rambling monologue, his hellspawn loved the idea of dressing up as someone else for a day. And that pain had to be inflicted on all attending guests.
His costume was a little less original and more subdued than the rest of the room, avoiding bright or flashy in an attempt to make his rounds with important people and then fade into the background to slip out. And inspired by his girlfriend's favorite inside joke.
So he had to at least show up at Cathy's apartment as he was before getting changed. Her suprise. Thankfully, enough of the city had taken to celebrating Halloween this year that he didn't feel like a complete idiot when he stopped to grab a couple of movies for the Anti-Halloween night.
What the f-
Pony Express. He'd been riding a message back to Missouri, fourth leg of the trip through Sioux territory and they'd almost caught up with him. But he was the faster and made it to the post to get a bite to eat and a fresh horse and...
Lindsey squeezed his eyes shut and pinched the bridge of his nose. He was exhausted and he had a deadline that needed to be met. Sure as hell wasn't losing his reputation for speed over a little hitch like suddenly showing up in...Los Angeles?
"Aw hell."
Somewhere, in the back of his mind, the faint voice snarled a few well chosen curses about the holiday of Halloween.
