Peter shut his eyes when she pressed her forehead to his, leaning right back against her. In his pocket, he could feel the weight of the ring box. But there was a right moment to ask that question of her, and a wrong one, and this moment was too complicated by other things. This would be a change, a drastic change for both of them. Peter didn't want to throw another one at her now.
So instead, he just held onto her, letting his own calm and love wash over her. "I love you too, Sarah." He would have been content to stay like this forever.
