Sarah brushed her forehead against his. "Don't say that like there's something wrong with being you," she chastised softly. Of all the things that could be sorted as pros versus cons, being like him was far, far from something that could ever be on a con list.
She was quiet for a few minutes, because she realized she was nearly the point of no return in making her decision. Perhaps she'd already passed it, really.
Not all choices... have two paths..
She took a deep breath, looking down at her hands on his chest. "I'd hate myself if I didn't do what I could to help them. I can't not help them, knowing I might be able to do so much for them, knowing that doing nothing might leave them homeless or worse."
And with that, even if there was still more to say, even if she didn't announce it in so many words, the decision was made. She just wasn't ready to say it for certain yet.
"But even if having this power means I wouldn't follow his footsteps, even if it means I won't lose everything and everyone," she said, looking up at him, "there's nothing saying I can figure out how to help them." She nodded toward the box holding the only possible future because she was the person she was. "There's no instruction manual in the box."
