Anger fueled her now. Anger at being away from her own world in this crazy place where monsters were real and people were constantly getting hurt. Anger at being away from her job and her friends and her family. And anger like she'd never felt before at the Shadowmen. They'd stolen away Julian from her, they'd kidnapped and hurt children and they were going to be stopped. One way or another.
That was why she was here, wearing jeans and a fisherman's knit sweater, fingers clenched hard enough that the gold ring on her finger bit into the meat of her palm.
She'd have a little bit of an advantage at least, the Lurker and the Creeper were gone. Dead. She almost pitied Julian's creatures at having been stolen away, resurrected to serve the enemy of their creator. Jenny knew, realistically, Julian had bent the rules for her. She knew that these Shadowmen would not. And logically, she knew she might die.
But they had to be stopped. Like the saying Dee's grandmother kept taped over her bathroom sink Do no harm. Help when you can. Return good for evil. She would do what she had to. Taking a deep breath, she shoved open the door to More Games and stepped into the cool, dark stillness of the interior.
"Come out. I know you're here."
