WHO: Claire & Noah Bennet (future versions) WHERE: the Hyperion WHEN: after this WHAT: Even the Apocalypse doesn't change the need for a father-daughter moment. RATING: TBD STATUS: thread; complete
Pushing away from the computer, Claire moved to pick up the few things out of place in her room, mostly for something to do while waiting for her dad to show up at the door. Her original message had started with a much different intent that what she'd posted, but the end need had been the same – she wanted to see her dad. It just wasn't something a child should ever ask a parent, but she didn't have anyone else to ask. Peter would know the best about it, but she couldn't bring herself to even broach the topic now, not because she didn't want to be honest or thought he wouldn't be honest in return, but because Peter's burden was already too great.
But there was no way to say 'Dad, I need you to help me find a way to die because I don't want to be here after the world ends and all of you are gone', so she'd settle for spending what time she could with him now. Buffy's post had drawn out every hurt, every fear she had right now, accounting for her vehement reaction to someone she did like, and in the wake of that it felt like the only thing to make some of that better was her dad. She was under no illusions now about what he could and couldn't do – at least so far as what she did know – but that didn't change that even if there were no solutions, there was still support.
When the knock at the door came, she opened it, every intention of letting him get in the door first. That changed when she latched on to him right in the doorway, no doubt throughly trouncing the idea she'd 'just wanted to see' him.
