It was a windy evening in Los Angeles, and the streets were bustling with businessmen in intense conversations on their cell phones with their coats flapping behind them and cars with drivers honking and screaming out their windows, impatient to get home after a long day's work. This everyday routine for the people of Los Angeles was foreign to Dana Tan, and she looked around nervously while pulling her jacket a little bit closer to her body.
It was completely and utterly surreal. She felt like she had stepped back in time, or that one of her grandmother's stories had somehow come to life. The buildings were classic and retro, the cars had wheels, and the technology she saw was what she had seen only once before, when she had gone to the museum for a field trip in elementary school.
"I'm dreaming," she muttered to herself, briskly walking away from a homeless man, who had been leering at her for the past three minutes, "It's got to be a dream." Unfortunately for Dana, her senses were just a bit too sharp for this to have been a creation of her subconscious.
