Who: Elaine Belloc & Cordelia Chase (w/Dennis) What: A farewell present. Where: Hyperion When: After her meeting with Peter Status/Rating: In Progress/Doubtfully beyond PG.
It had been a long day since her announcement in the forums was posted, questions were asked and prying minds wanted to know. She had answered each of their doubts, soothed almost all their fears, but she hadn’t said all her farewells. She hadn’t done enough for the people she had been living in for months. This place she was now walking out was her first home ever since she ended her mortal existence and had chosen to leave her foster parents and classmates behind.
That was different, Elaine thought while she walked on the corridors of the hotel headquarters, heading to Cordelia’s room – these people were used to deal with the supernatural unlike the idyllic normal (by some standards, those an urban English schoolgirl was able to communicate with her three dead grandmothers) existence she had led in London. There was a fight, they could relate the conflict she was chosen to face in the Silver City.
Even though, she had hidden the truth, Elaine had not lied - she hated liars – but withheld the facts. There was a tiny bit in her demiurge system that ached with apprehension when she approached to the desire destination. Nobody was angry with her yet, however they had the right to be. She shook her head, deeming these anxieties very childish. Focus! The Universe needs you! She stopped in front of Cordelia’s front door and knocked it softly with her knuckles twice.
“Cordelia?” she called out, making a pause and giving another tap at the locked door, “Can I talk to you for a minute? It’s… important. To me.” There was certain hint of tiredness in her voice. This would be another explanation to give and she hadn’t finished her list yet. Elaine Belloc was almost tempted to make time flow different to tick off every box she got left.
And that was a selfish idea. Maybe her uncle was rubbing of his habits on her.
