Who: Lindsey McDonald and Faith Lehane
When: Lunchtime
Where: Diner
What: Promised lunch bribe.
Rating: TBD
The murmured conversation between patrons and employees, the clink of dishes knocking against one another as they were removed from stacks and transferred to tables, and the smell of freshly cooked meals and brewed coffee created a warm, homey atmosphere in the diner. It wasn't quite what Lindsey was seeking but the food was good and it was unlikely he would run into one of his employees. That made it the best place for meetings that didn't involve firm business.
And it wasn't. Lindsey was used to watching his own back but now he had two women chiding him for not taking better care of himself. While he could find ways to distract Cathy, he had to find a different way to placate Faith that he was fine and he didn't want anyone worrying over him. Then there was that strange friendship/mentorship that was slowly building between them, despite being on opposite sides. Not that that happening was coming as a surprise to him anymore.
The lunch hour rush was already in full swing when he arrived. There were a few empty stools at the far end of the counter and he threw his suit jacket over one to save it before grabbing two laminated menus from the stack by the register and the read many times over newspaper from an empty table. He settled down, body angled so he could easily glance up at the door to check on the new arrivals.
