Nick bit the inside of his mouth carefully as he considered what she said. He could see why she would think that, but he wasn't like that. At least, he really hoped he wasn't like that at all. He glanced up briefly from his feet to look at Elisabeth, giving her the best, puppy dog look he could muster. Which wasn't too hard for him, given the fact that he felt slightly like a kicked puppy dog.
"But I can promise you that," he protested quietly, his eyes still on her face before dropping down to his hands. "I gave my word the moment that I put this ring on, and I intend to keep it." There was a slight bit of fire in this statement, and he wasn't sure why he was getting so riled up inside over the conversation. Maybe it was because deep down he felt that he could easily be tempted and was in denial? The only real thing he was sure of was he didn't want Alex to leave.
