They were coming from two different timelines and Daemon was wondering which was the easier one: to not know what the future held or to know everything and have to come to terms with it all. They would have to meet somewhere in the middle but Daemon wasn't quite sure how to do that. Hell, he wasn't sure if he could just yet.
For the first time in his life, Daemon didn't know how to proceed. His body was responding to her and for once, he didn't have to worry about the Ring; didn't have to worry that his physical response would filter through the controlling rings and let them know he was capable of that sort of arousal. But she was still twelve in his mind and he had to keep a leash on his emotions and wants.
"They do not exist for me," Daemon said, meeting her gaze and knowing it was Witch who stared back at him. "I did not suffer -- but I also was not there for you when I should have been. And for that, I'm sorry I failed you."
