It was like waking up after a long sleep encased in ice. His lungs unfroze first, leaving him gasping and shrieking as oxygen flooded the new organs---and then his fingers were dragging at the ground, and he could feel it. Concrete and dirt raked beneath his nails, leaving bloody, gritty furrows on his skin. --The world was so much brighter! Even the filthy, overcrowded, stinking city he found himself in was beautiful.
The Sith Lord screamed with laughter, rising and throwing his head back, arms spreading in total, unfettered ecstasy. He was alive! Alive! Unbound! Free! No cold stone would ever hold him again! He would never again be banished to empty corridors!
Force-strength pulsed through him, and with sadistic joy, he let it explode outward. --Around him, buildings exploded and crumbled, roaring down around him. The sound was the most beautiful thing he had ever heard---screams and sirens wailing, humans fleeing from him.
He was death. He was the Great Destroyer. He was the Dark.
Gas-lines snapped, flames erupted around him, and Exar Kun stepped through the destruction around him as if he had been born to a battlefield. As if nothing could touch him.
