Jack didn't know what to make of things anymore, so he ran. Not away forever, just away. Just enough to get his bearings back, to figure out who he was and remember what it was like to make a difference. To be a hero Cruger expected him to be. He hadn't taken a run in a long time, and so he was doing just that. He left when he said he would, and he would be there with weapons and morphers. He may have been giving her a bit too much trust, but she was right..he needed someone to lean on,as much as he hated it she knew the most about him. She knew what it was like to be SPD, to be military, and went through the Troobian war with them.
He jogged through the park as the sun set behind him over the city and tried to leave frustration in the past. Tried to think clearly. He had to be on his guard, Charlie said she wanted to be on his side, on his team, but he wasn't sure. Just like he wasn't sure how to help Kira anymore. How to be with her if she couldn't trust him and lean on him. She'd come to him in tears earlier in the afternoon, he held her through till the evening. Still he didn't feel like he accomplished much. He should know how to fix everything, how to make it all better and like before, but he couldn't. The situation was out of his hands and he hated it. He hated not being in control and knowing the right direction to go in to fix everything.
Finally he found a bench well out of the way of the public eye and sank into it. His head resting in his hands and beads of sweat gathered on his brow, and he wiped them away. The air was crisp but for once seemed cleaner than usual. It was quiet, maybe even a little too quiet. So he took the opportunity now to catch his breath before the vampires and demons decided to get the jump on him. In this part of the city it was almost a guarantee. Yet he was staring into space. His eyes focused on the new stars starting to peek through the clouds.
