What: Caedus encounters Ivy
When: Late at night
Where: Ivy's Secret Garden
Rating//Status: Complete (PG)
Darth Caedus had been expanding his network of contacts and control throughout Los Angeles, and was making keen progress. He had gained control of a private military company, giving him access to large amounts of personnel and fire control, and had already test fielded his newly acquired troops in controlled situations against beasts that roamed the streets. Creatures that his men told him were "vampires". Regardless, while they weren't creative, or advanced, they were efficient. He was already initiating procedures to acquire more power within LA.
Which was why he was in need of more subtle methods. Alema Rar wasn't much of a tool, all things considered. She was just a loud, flashy distraction that kept the heat off him. He needed a tool, a subtle one, that could remove inconveniences while he kept his hands clean, and one that could move at will. Sanity was also a requirement for such a delicate job. Even as he strolled through the park, he noted the decayed state of the trees and plants. Almost as if they were getting the life drained out of them...
Ivy was near death. Werewolves had attacked her on the last full moon that left both her garden and herself in shambles. In a week she had managed to pull herself down from the tree, but with the destruction of her flora she found it near impossible to regenerate. Like a wilted flower she remained, sitting in a circle of remaining orchids, waiting for her entity to bloom itself once again so that she may destroy the human abominations that dared to push her into oblivion.
The farther he walked, the stranger the environment became. The plants became more damaged the deeper he penetrated, with obvious signs of deliberate damage by beasts. Not vampires, as the claw marks and teeth marks were far too deep and ugly to belong to vampires. Not that vampires were particularly pretty, but the point was, it wasn't made by vampires.
Finally, Caedus made it to the middle of the park, and encountered a garden in shambles. The circle of orchids were wilted, the plants on the verge of death. And one thing in particular was strange.
"What is this......?"
Ivy looked up. She was covered in various gashes and in shreds of green flesh that almost hung from her bones. She looked up with eyes full of terror pleading for a silent mercy she would never ask.
"Leave me.... this is not for you," she demanded in a wavering voice.
Caedus paused, staring. Apparently, this unknown being had been in an incredible scuffle. The fact that...her?...flesh was hanging off her bones, it was obvious that whatever had fought her had also been responsible for the damage to the garden. He approached her, sending out a Force tendril to find how much life was left in her.
Surprisingly, a lot. How had she...? Well, if there was one thing Caedus knew, it was that saving a life often bond that life to his. Loyalty was a powerful tool, and not one to be taken lightly. Especially since this woman seemed to be an outcast. Ignoring her wounds, he removed his medkit, and poured a little liquid bacta down her throat. It wouldn't heal her, but it would sustain her a bit longer.
"Allow me to help," he said, his voice carefully modulated to be soothing. He moved carefully to examine her injuries, unsure of what to do. Force healing, perhaps, but he was not very talented in that regard. Besides, he didn't know the specifics of her biology.
She accepted his help, not knowing who he was or what he was doing.... but help was still help. The bacta got to work easily, bale to mend with her plant biology far quicker than her human biology, allowing the grass and flora around her to suddenly grow and and bring life to the small portion of the garden. Her human part of her life remained torn, but the plant within was back to life. She looked up to him, her eyes not a vivid green. In no longer a hoarse voice, but the smooth liquid voice of her own she spoke, "Thank you." She looked down and ran her fingers through the grass. Grass responded happily and the garden grew a little bit larger and a little bit greener. "I owe you my life... and my garden's."
Caedus sat back, watching this unknown being begin to regenerate. It was startling, watching her begin to bloom from life threatening injuries all over again. Even the life around them was beginning to grow green once more. Not all of it, certainly, but a small patch that would obviously become bigger. Then he looked at the rest of her, and saw that she was still very much damaged.
"You are welcome. However, the work is hardly done. You need to finish healing. And then we can have a discussion on what exactly happened to you."
Werewolves, on the last full moon." She said, deciding to finally stand. It hurt, but only the human part could scream. The plant part however, continued to speak as if here was nothing wrong. She stopped and eyed him for a moment. "Who are you? Why are you here?" She raised a finger as vines and leaves slithered up her body to cover her more modest parts. "...And what was that I ingested?"
Caedus studied her, not particularly surprised when she covered up, just at her method. Plant-based organisms were not that surprising, but ones that had achieved sentience were. It could do no wrong in answering her questions with at least a modicum of truth.
"My name is Caedus. I am here because I was on a simple walk away from my work. I found you here, and tried to help. As to what you ingested, it's called "bacta". I brought it from my home universe. It's a plant-based medicine. Very powerful."
Pausing, he looked her straight in the eyes, allowing the powerful charisma he had learned from his mother to come to the fore. "Who are you? What do you want?"
She smiled coyly at his gaze, allowing him to think he was influencing her. "My name is Poison Ivy... and this was my garden... and will be once again, once I return to my former self... I suppose now I owe you whatever you want." From habit, she forced a flower to bloom and release her pheromone. It hurt her, and weakened her severely but it would potentially keep the two of them civil. "Perhaps I could be of assistance you to.... I have many talents."
Caedus, deep within the Force, sensed the change in her attitude and stance, and centered himself within the Force. He was certain that she had done something, but he was confident he could resist it, no matter what it was. Reaching out with the Force, he subtly pressured her mind, pressing his strength against her untrained and blind presence.
"I have...certain tasks that need to be taken care of quietly. They would require a person who could move without being seen, and would leave no trace that she had been there. In exchange, I am certain I would reward that person quite well with their heart's desire."
Of course, so long as that desire coincided with his own. If they did not...well, there were ways to deal with that.
She bowed easily to his command, finding it almost comforting- so much so she closed her eyes and leaned slightly forward as she felt his presence in her mind. "Of course." She said sweetly. "You know I am capable than far more than this. Once I am healed I am the Earth herself...." She swayed lightly in he wind, nearly intoxicated by the sheer volume of The Green commanding her body as the human portion drowned in its pain. "I am not to be treated as a servant, I am the soul of this planet which has been raped repeatedly by the claims of those who tread my earths. What are you doing here?"
Interesting. Very interesting. She didn't seem to be completly plant-based. She seemed to be a mixture of plant and animal, or perhaps, to be more accurate, human DNA. Which presented an interesting problem, as her human self seemed to be screaming through the Force. He reached out with his dark powers, and slowly soothed the human side, using a variation on a Jedi healing technique to stitch it up, painfully slow. Healing techniques powered by the dark side were exceptionally frustrating, as it took great concentration to preven damage or corruption, but it would demonstrate she should not trifle with him.
Still applying mental pressure, he continued speaking to her. "I am here to impose order and peace. I am certain that you, of all people, would appreciate it if the beings around you knew the value of peace, especially toward the planet that nourishes and feeds them. The value of treating it with love and care, at peace with their surroundings. Don't you think so?"
The Green was easily influenced, and only by the sheer will of her human component was she able to feel the spectrum of emotions of a human. The plant's plan was to only create more life and to thrive... with the new commanding entity, she easily folded and grew to his presence. "Naturally." She said with a smile. Even the drowned soul inside felt somewhat calmed by the force reaching out into the depths of her shell. "Then the terms are agreeable, until I am fully repaired I am at your side."
Caedus came to the abrupt realization that the plant part of this being was far easier to influence than the human part. Through the application of the Force, he was influencing and controlling her much more easily than he would have a human. But there was also the need to be able to communicate and otherwise interact with her. So he would heal the human part of her, slowly but surely, while implanting the need to be loyal and grateful into both her human and plant sides. First came the deadening of the pain. With that, he reached out slowly sealed up the wounds. It wasn't a healing so much as a filling, but it was a start. From there, he exerted his will, creating a connection to her, allowing him to hear her voice no matter where she was.
"First things first. We shall create a secure method of communication, Ivy, and I shall give you assignments. You shall carry them out subtly and with skill. You will be able to hear my voice no matter where you are, and to speak to me in like manner. You shall be my hand in this world as we bring order and peace, life and safety to both man and planet. I am now your master."
He had many ideas of what she could do for him. And he even had ideas about how to make her blend in more easily. She would serve well, and as her ultimate reward, see her dreams accomplished.
"I serve no Master." She said bluntly, because even with all the Force in the world, she was still thriving upon the Green. "But I will readily help you for this planet, lover." She purred, enjoying his attention. "I have so much to do..." She said stretching with a bit of a yawn. "Call me when you need me, darling. I'm sure you'll have something wonderful planned."
Caedus raised an eyebrow at her rejection of his ascendeny, but for now, it was enough to know he was in control. And yes, he most certainly had wonderful plans for her to carry out. And he was certain she would be pleased.
"Good enough...lover," he replied ever so dryly. "For now, rest. I shall summon you when I need you."
