Who: Edric Nott (closed; narrative)
What: Finalizing plans to take over Luthorcorp
Where: The legal offices boardroom
When: Wednesday morning
Rating: PG (or R if you find shady business transactions offending!)
The legal office boardroom of Luthorcorp was understandably austere. After all, they didn't want anyone getting the idea that the corporation was anything but serious and hardline when it came to legal matters. Especially in light of those that were underway at the moment.
Perfectly postured in the slightly uncomfortable chair, Edric Nott watched the representatives from Luthorcorp review the paperwork his attorney had submitted, perhaps for the dozenth time. It made no difference to him; he knew full well his contracts were binding, the legalese tight. A bit of magic enspelled in the documents made sure of that. No loopholes escaped the spell he'd put on them. Even then, it wasn't completely necessary, but he was cautious. Luthorcorp's team was one of the best; Edric did well not to underestimate them.
"...in the event that the company assets have been summarily redirected into untenable options," his own lawyer reiterated yet again, pointing out the appropiate spot. Edric liked him immensely; the man was a bulldog in temperment although he looked like a young politician. Pleased, Edric smoothed down the front of his suit, which almost matched the iron gray in his hair. This was going spendidly. He had been waiting for the nominal head of the corporation to misstep, and the man had done so twice. One in his suddenly erratic unfamiliarity with the workings, reflected in the very, very lacking documents sent to the FASB. And now, with his transferring of the company's considerable assets into public assistance housing of all things! That certainly constituted 'untenable options,' Edric smirked.
There was also the fact that Edric was a controlling shareholder. A corporation was only as good as it's managing shareholders; recently a few had suddenly...decided that selling out to him was a wise investment. Edric did not wish to make himself obvious; the men were appropiately compensated.
"...coupled with the stock holdings, as per corporation records, my client's vested interests are now paramount," his lawyer finished triumphantly. Edric saw it on the legal team's faces, the capitulation. Now he had the reins at Luthorcorp. It would take a month to finalize a small reorganization, but the elements were clear. He had work to do.
He was now controlling that corporate giant that once belonged to Mr. Lex Luthor. And that was for one important reason....Luthorcorp knew things that Edric wanted to know.
